Chapter 12

"What!" Samantha exclaimed."That jerk! How can he do this to you?"

"I don't know." I hugged my pillow tightly.

"Clare is another one!" Samantha said."I knew she was interested in him but I didn't think she would go that far!"

"I though Clare was our friend.." I mumbled.

"This is all so complicated! I feel like strangling both of them." Samantha sighed.

I kept quiet.

Clare was the one who motivated me to confess to Jake.

She got me together with him.

And she broke Jake and I up.

"Jayne, are you alright? You still got me." Samantha sat beside me.

"Yeah. I know." I hugged Samantha." You're the best. You and Austin are."

"Austin? That kid? Since when you put me and Austin together under the same title?" Samantha asked.

"Since my Dad's death." I told her.

"Ah..Jayne, I'm really sorry for that. It just happens he was there for you at that period of time. I wasn't. So it doesn't count." Samantha crossed her arms.

"Sam. You're special to me in your own way." I smiled warmly. " But Austin did his part too."

"Okay..So..what are you planning to do? Now that you and Jake have broken up.."

"I'm clueless. I don't know how to pick myself up. Jake..he's too dear too me. Too dear.." I said.

Samantha jumped."Here is what you do! It's still summer right? In a few weeks time, it's gonna be your birthday. So you must have fun. Forget all about that no-good Jake. You will be happy like before. Happier in fact."

I looked up to Samantha. Now she was filled with confidence. Her eyes were bright so was her smile.

"Trust me." Samantha placed her hand on mine.

Yes, she was absolutely right.

I have to let go.

What's past is past.

Even though it was two years worth of feelings..it won't be easy.

But I have friends.

Friends who love me. For real.

And who care.

And who deserves my trust.

"I'm counting on you." I turned to her.

"Sure you will." Samantha chuckled.

My heart felt assured even though it's still suffering.

"Right.." Samantha suddenly said.

"What?" I asked.

"I have summer courses. I forgot about it." Samantha said." So..I can't be with you everytime."

"Ugh.." I sighed."Really? After everything you said.."

"I'm sorry.." Samantha laughed." Don't worry, you'll definately have company."

"Yeah like who? Henry?" I asked.

"I was thinking about that. Hey you could hang out with him! Oh yeah, Austin too!" Samantha exclaimed.

"Okay.." I replied." But I want to spend time with you too."

"Erm..I'll make it up to you..by..going on a trip with you! We'll go to Ohio!" Samantha smiled.
