"Wake up." I heard a faint voice say.

My eyes struggled to open as the rays of the sun seeped through my eyelids.

"Uhm.." I mumbled, as the faint voice kept on persisting.

"Jayne.." That voice was heard by my ears again which apparently is not so eager to hear.

"Yeah.." I sat up with my eyes closed."I'm up alright? Geez. Samantha...give me a break..."

"It's Austin." That voice said.

I opened my eyes and panicked."Oh gosh! Austin! W-what are you doing her-e? Wh-ere is Samanth-a?"

My face was flushed with embarrassment. Austin was staring at me from head to toe.

I was in a mess. My hair was unkempt and I wasn't ready to let anyone see me this way.

Especially Austin.

"Samantha and Lucas headed out. I'm not sure where they went though. Oh and Henry is taking a shower now." Austin calmly stated.

"Oh-h. I see.." I said."I'm sorry...you have to see me this way.."

"It's alright...You look really..natural.." Austin said as he left the room.

Natural? Was that an insult? I could tell he was holding back his laughter.

I got out of bed and headed to the bathroom. Gotta clean myself up!

That Samantha. She didn't even tell me she's gonna go off with Lucas to some unknown place.

I took a quick shower and threw on a t-shirt and jeans then headed out for breakfast.

"Morning sis." Henry smiled as he ate the pancakes.

Austin looked at me as he drank some juice. Most likely orange..or is it mango?

It doesn't matter anyway.

"Hey Henry." I replied and sat down.

I noticed Austin staring at me." You know..you can laugh now."

Austin started laughing really hard.

Henry was clueless about the incident."What's going on? Hey bro. You alright?"

"Yeah. It's just that...I've never seen that sight of you before..." Austin smiled at me.

"Come on. It's embarrassing alright." I started laughing too.

"Okay. I don't know what's going on." Henry sighed.

"You don't have to know everything." I turned to Henry."Come on, eat up your pancakes."

"I'm not a kid anymore."Henry said.

"But you're younger than me." I replied.

"And does age matter?" Henry asked.

"Yes, apparently it does."

"So age matters a lot to you?" Austin cut in.
I kept silent and looked at his expression. It has changed.

The atmosphere became very solemn.

"Er.." I struggled to find a reply.

"Does an age gap mean something to you?" Austin asked.

"Austin..age is just a number but..erm..I was just teasing Henry.." I muttered.

"But does it matter to you?"

"Yeah." I looked away.

My heart felt really heavy all in a sudden.

"Oh." Austin said.

"Austin." I told him."But our friendship is beyond that...way beyond."

Austin stared at me. As if he was in shock.

"Okay.." Henry said."Let's think of something to do...for the day..Because we don't know when they'll be back."

"Y-yeah. Sure." I sat up straight.

"You guys go ahead..I'll head to the room." Austin stood up and walk away.

"What's up with him?" Henry asked.

I watched as Austin as he walked away.

"Okay that leaves us." Henry folded his arms.

"Let's play scrabble." I suggested.

"Scrabble? Sis..seriously..." Henry groaned.

"Come on. I saw it under that table." I pointed towards the table.

"Ah..alright.." Henry agreed.

We played scrabble for the next hour.Well we were really competitive.

"Hello people." Samantha chuckled as she walked in.

"Sam!" I looked up to her."Where have you been?"

"We went shopping." Samantha smiled.

"Yeah. She wanted to. Besides it has been awhile since we went out like this." Lucas said as he came in carrying paper bags filled with clothes and shoes.

"Thanks." Samantha kissed Lucas on the cheek.

Henry kept away scrabble while he muttered under his breath " Finally."

I observed the way Lucas treated Samantha. They were so loving to each other.

How amazing they were to be able to sustain a long distance relationship and to remain loyal to each other.

Maybe it's just that they're meant to be.

Jake and I were never meant to be.

That's why things never work out for us. Maybe he thinks that I was not good enough for him.

That's why he moved on to Clare.

"Hey Jayne. Where's Austin?" Samantha asked.

"Oh he's in the room." I replied.

"Henry, could you get him to get out? We're going to the lake but this time we're gonna go into the water!" Samantha exclaimed.

"Sure." Henry stood up.

"Hold on! I want to go." I held Henry shirt to stop him from moving.

"She asked me." Henry turned to me.

"Maybe she did. But I wanna go." I giggled as I walked over to Austin's room.

Well not really his room. But he was in the room.

Maybe I could catch him in his worst possible manner like how he did when he caught me in mine.

Slowly, I turned the knob of the door and walked in quietly.

The curtains were closed as they blocked off the sunlight from coming through.

Incredible. Even after breakfast, he could still sleep.

Austin slept peacefully on the bed with the blanket covering him.

I stared at his sleeping figure.

There was nothing that wasn't perfect from the way he slept.

I walked over to him and placed my hand on his head."Wake up. Austin."

Unlike me the moment I said that his eyes opened.

"Jayne.." Austin sat up.

I broke into a smile as I came across the messy haired Austin.

"What?" Austin yawned.

"Your hair..it's really messy again." I covered my mouth with my hands to prevent myself from laughing.

"Do I look that funny?" Austin asked.

"Nope. In fact the way you slept was beautiful compared to the way I slept." I replied.

"Beautiful?"

"Yeah..you saw how I looked in the morning..so compared to you..it's a huge difference."

"No..I thought you looked really beautiful when I saw you this morning..." Austin replied."Really beautiful."
