"Jayne?" Samantha said."Jayne? Hey!"

"Yeah-h?" I answered her, startled. I held my milkshake tightly and bit my lip. I know what she was gonna ask.

I can't seem to concentrate ever since last night.

Samantha eyed me suspiciously and kept silent for awhile before saying," Are you alright?"

I was prepared for that question and prepared I came with an answer too."I'm alright. Just feeling a little tired."

"Jayne." Samantha said."Don't give me that. Don't you dare lie to me ever again. That's something wrong with you."

I stared at her. I've been keeping from her all my feelings. I don't usually do that until Austin appeared in my life.

He makes me do things that I don't usually do. He makes me defy every thing I upheld in my life.

I don't want to hide from Samantha but this is just all wrong. She probably thinks it is too.

But she's my friend. A true one. One that has always been there.

"Samantha." I finally breathed out.

Samantha looked at me seriously. She was really concerned, she really cared. It'll be alright.

But what am I suppose to say? How am I suppose to put what I felt into words?

"I have to tell you everything from the start." I said.

Samantha nodded with eyes full of sincerity. And I told her.

"So..Austin loves you and you love Austin but Jake loves you and you love Jake? Is that what it is?" Samantha asked.

"I don't know if I love Austin." I replied."I know I do love Jake."

"Please." Samantha said."What is there to deny? You have fallen in love with Austin and boy..you fell hard.Told you your actions weren't just sibling stuff as you said it was."

I sat up straight and buried my face in my hands. Maybe I have.. maybe she was right.

"Stop lying to yourself. You do love Austin. When he threw your present how did you feel?" Samantha asked.

"I felt like my heart that had been bruised was once again stepped upon." I said as I looked up.

"You see..Austin..well from his actions I think he has decided he'll give up on you." She said."And I think you should give up on him too. You guys were never meant to be."

Give up?

Never meant to be? Never..

"Okay." I said to her.

I can't throw away what I felt for him. I would never be able to do that.

But the least I could do..the least...will be placing this feelings aside.

I don't know how I'll do that. But I have to.

"Sis! Your phone is ringing." Henry shouted.

"Yeah yeah." I ran to the bedroom and grabbed my phone."Hey Jake."

"Jayne, just before school starts, my aunt is getting married." Jake said.

"Uh huh.." I said."What of it?"

"Well we're gonna attend her wedding so I was wondering if you would come with me as my partner." Jake replied.

"Yeah yeah sure." I agreed without hesitation. I couldn't say no.

"Great.." Jake said with a little laugh."I'll pick you up at five in the evening."

"Sure." I hung up.

Time passes so fast. Just before school starts? That's next week already.

It's been days since Austin's party.

He hasn't called or texted me. Not once.
Ever since he threw away my gift.

Few times have I visited the Allens but it seems he wasn't home every time I did.

I'm content with what I have now. But..I feel like I've miss him all this time.

I know what I'm going through is unfair towards Jake.

I can't believe I keep thinking about Austin. I said I would give up on him but it seem I couldn't.

He had a hold of my heart. He controlled how I felt. My emotions hear his call.

I don't know why. But I can't seem to move on..not yet.

I want to hear it again. I want to hear him play the piano again.

Maybe..I won't mind being friends? I still have to go back to being his tutor.

Then we'll be back at chapter one. He might be ready to go back there but I sure am not.

My phone rang out of the sudden and it startled me a little. "Oh it's Sam." I muttered under my breath before answering.

"Jayne! Wanna go out next week before school starts?" Samantha asked.

"Erm..which day? Because I have a wedding to attend to." I told her.

"Wedding?" Samantha asked."Whose?"

"Jake's aunt." I replied.

"Wow. You're even involved in this already. You guys sure must be serious."

"Yeah..." I sighed.

"On second thought..he's the one being really serious about you and while you are there thinking about his younger brother who might be your potential brother in law."

"I'm trying alright." I said." Really hard."

"Well try harder. It seems really obvious you're not into Jake as much as he is into you."

"Okay."

"I'm free at four." She said."We'll go shopping."

"For what?"

"My dear if you're going for a wedding and especially your boyfriend in name only asked you."

"Boyfriend in name? Hey what is that suppose to mean?" I asked.

"Nothing." Samantha laughed.

"I don't think I will buy a new dress. I'll just wear my mother's dress." I said to her.

"No and no." Samantha said."You're buying a new dress." And with that she hung up.

True to her word, Samantha dropped by at four.

"I think that's too revealing." I commented.

"No. It shows off your curves." Samantha looked at me from head to toe.

"Sam..." I turned to her."I don't like this dress. Besides it's too expensive."

"Don't worry about the money." She smiled."I'm loaded."

"How?" I asked.

"That's a secret." She winked." Come on. I say that this dress is good."

I looked at the mirror once more. The dress touched my knees. It was turquoise in colour. But it showed a little too much skin from the top.

"Come on." Samantha dragged me and whispered in my ear." You have someone you wanna impressed right?"

I turned to her and brushed that off. But in a way she was right.

Austin was also gonna be there and I wonder who he chose for his partner.

I don't know who she'll be but all I know that girl isn't me.
