I sat down next to Jake at the dining table.

With his mother and brother opposite us.

While Mr Allen sat at the end of the table.

Austin sat opposite me. His gaze avoided mine.

He probably finds me a nuisance but I'm gonna try my best.

It's not that I'm taking Samantha's advice seriously. It's just that I genuinely do care what his family thinks of me.

"Some roast chicken?" Mrs Allen smiled.

I nodded."Thank you."

"No worries dear," She laughed."So how did you come to like Jake?"

"Erm.." I mumbled." Well...I guess you could say it's love at first sight."

I blushed at the thought of that. Love at first sight?  Ever since I was young I never believed in that.

But it changed when I saw Jake.

"I thought that doesn't exist," I continued." But I was wrong."

I looked over to Jake just to see him smiling at me.

"You aren't alone dear. I remember Jake coming home after the first day in school, telling me he saw an angel." Mrs Allen giggled.

"Angel?" I turned to Jake." Do I look like one?"

"No..you don't."Jake laughed." You are one."

"Please not at the dining table." Mr Allen joked.

We broke into laughter.

Everyone did except Austin.

I looked at him. His green eyes were staring at me.

It felt like he could read my mind.

"Jayne." Mr Allen called.

That gaze was broken instantly with that.

"Yes Mr Allen?" I asked.

"What are you planning to do next year? Of course besides studying." He continued.

"Erm I'm thinking of getting a part-time job." I replied.

"Why don't you be a tutor to Austin?"Mrs Allen suggested." We'll pay you."

"What?" Austin said.

"Yes darling. You need help in your studies." Mrs Allen turned to him.

"Mrs Allen would that be alright?" I asked.

"Of course it would. "

I looked at Austin. He was avoiding my gaze.

"Jayne if you do it. We could spend more time together too." Jake said.

"Jake don't disturb her when she's teaching your brother alright?" Mrs Allen asked.

"Sure." Jake laughed.

"Well Mrs Allen. I accept the job." I continued." Just tell when I'm needed."

"Why don't you come by every evening?" Mrs Allen suggested.

"Sure." I smiled.

"What in the world is going on? Your mother-in-law just hired you?" Samantha asked.

"She isn't my mother-in-law. I just told her I was finding a part-time job and I was offered to teach Austin." I replied.
