"I'm home!" I called out as I took off my shoes.

"Hey. You're back." Henry said. He was lying casually on the couch with his eyes on the television screen.

"Mom! I'm home." I said, ignoring Henry.

"Sweetie. Glad you're back. Go wash up and have supper later on." Mom smiled."I have a surprise for you."

"Sure!" I replied, delighted at the thought of surprises.

I washed up,changed to a fresh piece of clothing and downstairs.

"So Mom! What's the surpise?" I sat down on the dining table.

"Dad's gonna be home tomorrow night." Henry said.

"Hey I didn't ask to hear that from you." I said turning to Henry."Mom! That's great news! It's been months since we last saw him."

"Yes sweetie. I'm feeling really happy." Mom smiled warmly.

Mom cooked some soup for supper and it was delicious. Of course it was.

"So how's you and Austin's brother going along?" Henry asked.

"Like you care." I replied.

"Well Austin has been saying things about you and Jake." Henry replied.

"What things?"

"Well.. he's like 'So your sister is dating my brother.' " Henry said.

"There's nothing wrong with that." I shrugged.

"Not when is repeated every single hour. He's been strange." Henry protested.

"Enough about the younger brother. How's Jake and you coming along?" Mom asked.

"It's just perfect." I smiled.

"You don't even know him well. I don't even see why you should be dating him. Love at first sight is just in fairytales." Henry turned to me.

"Oh really? Try me." I growled.

"When's his birthday?"

"September Fifth." I replied.

"Favourite number?" He continued.

"The number one."

"Favourite colour?"

"Black!" I answered.

"Come on, you two. How childish!" Mom said.

Henry and I started laughing. We would always quarrel but it was in a way that it would be forgotten almost immediately.

"How's Samantha?" Mom asked.

"Erm...I fought with her today." I replied.

"Why?"

"It's a long story. But I'll make up to her." I assured Mom.

"You better." Mom kissed me on the fore- head." Better go sleep now. Go on. You too, Henry."

"Good night!" We both said in unison.

I went into my room as I heaved a sigh of relief.

I checked my phone. She hasn't called. Or even texted.

Samantha was always there. Ever since middle school, she was.

I brushed my teeth and headed to bed.

The moment I stepped into class, my eyes searched the room for Samantha.
