The Not So Small Family

JJ and Emily helped put food in a picnic baskets since they were going to a near by park. When they were finished they were tasked with gathering everyone and making sure they were ready to go. They ended up taking 6 cars to fit everyone and the food. Amy and Ny sat next to Henry in the backseat of the truck. 

"Everybody ready?" Emily asked getting in. She got nods so she buckled up and started  the truck.

"I want the aux!" JJ yelled already plugging it in

"And I can't stop you can I?" Emily asked

"Nope!"

Emily laughed as JJ put her hand on the arm rest, palm up. Emily grabbed it and held onto it. Ny and Amy saw this and smiled at each other, they were already ahead of their plan. They followed Liam's car that was in front of them to the park that they could of walked to if they really wanted to. After Emily got out she went to help Henry while the rest went to help with the food or setting up a place for them to eat.

Emily sat on the picnic blanket to help as she also watched Henry play with his cousins. As she was putting down potato salad a soccer ball hit her back. She turned around with the ball in her hand and saw a boy who looked no older than 10 come towards her. When he got her she handed him the ball and he signed 'Thank you'. She smiled and signed back 'No problem'.  He was taken aback from this new discovery. 

'You know sign language?' He signed

Emily nodded and he looked behind him where he had set up make shift goals. 

'Wanna play with me?' He signed hopefully 

'Sure, can my son play?' She signed back

'You have a son?'

'Yeah he's right over there' She signed before pointing to Henry. "Henry come here!" She yelled and got a few confused looks from JJ's family. 

"Yeah Mama?" Henry asked strolling over

"You want to play soccer with me and..." she turned to look at the boy. 'What's your name?'

'My name's Max' He signed back with a smile

'Well hello Max. My name's Emily and this is my son Henry'

'Hello' Max signed to Henry

"He says Hi Henry" Emily says

Henry waved at him noticing that he wouldn't hear him if he spoke. Max smiled at him then turned to Emily. 

'Are you hearing?'

'Yes. Are you deaf?'

'No I'm hard of hearing but I forgot my hearing aids' 

Emily nodded before saying and signing "Do you guys want to go play some soccer?"

They both responded 'yes' enthusiastically before running over to the make shift goals.

"Okay how about you two versus me" Emily signed and said as she got into position to kick there butts.  The boys looked at each other and high-fived confirming it. 

Max turned to Emily 'We get the ball first!'

"Fine" She responded 

Max dropped the ball and passed to Henry, officially staring the game.

JJ was putting fruit out on a plate when she saw Emily signing to a boy. She smiled at them before turning back around to help out more. She was caught off guard when she head Emily call for Henry. As she watched what was going on Jess and Nick came over and sat next to her.
