"My feet hurt." I wiggled a bit in my shoes. I was working a double for an extra shift I picked up at Waffle House. I had already been on my feet for 9 hours.
"Good thing we're busy tonight."
"I'm calling off tomorrow." My coworker laughed
I placed 3 plates from the counter onto my tray and headed to the floor. I set them down at two different tables and approached table 3.
My boo was seated there. I thought he was here to surprise me but a girl sat across from him in the booth.
"Hello, I'm K. Can I get y'all started with drinks?" I was speaking fast and had my hand on my hip
He nodded at her to order first. He hadn't seen my yet. I placed my hand on the table showing my nails with his initial on the ring finger as I waited for her to speak.
He finally looked up at me, I presented a tight lipped smile.
"Girl, you want me to take this one?" My coworker placed her hand on my shoulder
"Yeah." I removed my hand from the table quickly "You better take this one."
"Kayla." He followed me out of the booth
"What you want?"
"It ain't like this, me and her ain't serious." He grabbed my arm making me look at him
"You brung your other bitch to my job. You couldn't take her no where else? There's 100 Waffle Houses in the A."
"I didn't know you worked tonight."
I took a deep breath and shook my head. "Sir, I have other customers to get back to." I entered the kitchen leaving him behind.
I didn't leave the back for a while. I didn't want to see my man on a date with another bitch. I kept looking over nails, I wanted to pop them off. I had his initial on both my ring fingers and he paid for the set. I didn't like them anymore.
"He left if that's what you're waiting on."
"Thanks girl."
"He left soon as he came back to the table and he left you a tip. A 1000 dollar tip."
"That was embarrassing for real."
The remainder of the night I was quiet and to myself. I kept replying the situation thinking I should've handled it differently.
It was going on 2am when I clocked out. My feet were killing me so I sat at the bar and pulled out my phone.
"Don't call that uber." My manger stopped me and pointed outside
