"Oh great you're here Mrs. Nicole. We're a tad bit pressed for time so I'm going to show you how to make Mr. Cavill's coffee today and from now on it'll be your job to do so."
I was bombarded by a young looking white woman who I'm guessing was the receptionist for this floor. I've been to a few floors in this huge building during the interview process, each floor has a receptionist.
I followed her into the break room and watched her make the bland 100% black coffee. I eyed her weirdly, she could have just told me he liked his coffee black.
"Follow me to his office. Quickly, he gets in at 8 am sharp every morning."
I followed behind her as she walked into a short but large secluded hallway. The walls were painted black and there was a row of lamps every few feet on the wall. It was creepy and intimidating.
Once we made it to the end of the hall the noise from the common area couldn't be heard at all. It was pin drop silent but that was broken when she pushed open the large silver double doors.
I watched from the door as she placed the coffee on the table. The office was monotonously black and silver.
"No time for looks. Your office is just a few feet down the hall."
I followed her again to my office. I was a personal assistant for Henry Cavill, a multi-billionaire businessman. He was never apart of the interviewing process so I'd never met him. Nervous wasn't the word.
Once I was left at my desk alone for a few minutes the phone at my desk rang.
"Cavill Industries."
"My office, now."
I placed the phone down, grabbed my pen and notepad from my bag before walking back down the dark silent hallway.
Once I entered a tall dark haired figure stood at the window with his back to me.
"Don't answer the phone like that. I'll only ever be the one calling, answer yes sir."
I stood quietly, still against the door. He turned to look at me as if I was supposed to say something. He was a bit chubby, a thick beard coated his face, and his voice was deep and intimidating.

I expected him to be an old white man. I was pretty sure he was white but he wasn't old, maybe mid thirties.
"Say, yes sir!" He wasn't yelling but he raised his voice a bit
"Yes sir."
"Who made my coffee? It's awful. Claire didn't show you how to make it?"
"Claire?"
"The receptionist."
"She made it sir."
"It's your job to make it."
"It's my first day."
"And your unprepared, very unprofessional Mrs. Nicole."
"It's Miss."
"What? Why the hell are you so far away? Take a seat Ms. Nicole and take notes. This discussion will only be had once."
I furrowed my eyebrows at him as I made my way towards him before taking a seat. I crossed my leg over itself waiting for him to speak.
"I'm ready." I pressed after he just stared at me for a while, what the hell was he looking at
"Coffee. Start with this nonsense you made then add three half & half and five sugars."
I only stared at him.
"Write it down."
I jotted it down quickly, although I knew I wouldn't forget. He sighed heavily before running his hands over his slick hair.
"Dismissed. I'll ring you with something simple to do since even coffee was too difficult."
To say I was offended was an understatement, I just told him I did not make his gross coffee. I stood from my seat making my way out of the office and away from such a rude man. Then made my way into the break room past Claire who set me up this morning. My first day was going to shit all because of this woman.
I remade Mr. Cavill's coffee and grabbed the two of us donuts. He looked like a healthy man so I figured he could use one. - I walked into his office unannounced making him look up at me from his work. His office was still pen drop silent, even with him in there working.
"I called you. Why weren't you in your office?"
"Remade your coffee and grabbed you a snack."
"You already ruined the first cup so go head and toss that one too."
"You just told me how to make it. Try it, I didn't exactly what you said."
He ignored me beginning to type on his computer. I waited almost an entire minute before I dropped it in the bin near his desk, along with both our donuts.
His icy blue eyes pierced through me. When the coffee dropped in the bin it broke the silent in the room, the room almost seemed normal for a second.
"Ms. Nicole!" Again he wasn't yelling but he raised his voice
I didn't stop to answer, I headed back to my office to start my work and get out of here. The receptionist set me up and my boss is a pain in my ass. The simplest things make him rude and cranky and bitchy.
Since I didn't answer the phone he emailed me.
Document the success of each of the branches in the company from 1998 to 2018. Place it on my desk then you are dismissed.
Is he serious? I don't have a degree in computer science and communications for this. He wanted me to basically graph the success of the company.
I slap my hand against my face before starting the task. - I was finished 20 minutes later. There were 4 branches of the company, nothing major.
I again walked in unannounced and placed the sheet on his desk before leaving out. When I made it back to my office I gathered my things and straightened up. While I was busy doing that a knock at my door stopped me.
"You did this?" Mr. Cavill stood in my office holding the spreadsheet I just gave to him
"Yes. Is something wrong with it?"
"You completed this task awfully fast, did you have help?"
"No. Did you read my resume?"
"I have people who do that."
"Why'd you think they hired me if I couldn't perform?"
His eyes scanned my body up and down then he motioned towards it. I pulled my purse close to my body before walking around him and leaving my office.
What a first day.
