When we got close enough to my family's home all of my normal emotions washed over my body making my cheeks heat up.
"He was cute." I giggled out
"I know." Mom squealed like a teenage girl
"I might have to stay in therapy." I joked
"I hope this is the one to crack your code, you're already doing better with Keith than you were with the previous therapist. Here's his number."
I nodded and recalled the session Mr. Powers and I shared. Although I stared into space majority of the time, I could feel myself trying.
"He said you could FaceTime him if you're feeling stuck. Maybe during your counseling sessions you could call him instead of talking to the school counselor."
"I don't think I'll be comfortable with that mom."
"Well I'll call and make it apart of your counseling session."
"Mom your pushing."
She sighed and threw her hands up in surrender.
"Your next session is on Friday. If you haven't called on your own by then I'll make it apart of your school sessions."
"Friday is in 2 days mom."
"Then you have 2 days."
I sighed and relaxed the passenger seat until my face was shaded. I didn't want to call him. I didn't want to. When would I call? I would probably call then freeze.
I shrugged my shoulders to myself, mom would probably forget by dinner.

I rested my head back against the bath pillow while the jets massaged my body. All I could think about was school tomorrow. I had to be escorted out of class because I got called on and froze in place. Embarrassed isn't the word to describe the feeling that engulfed me once I was back to reality.
I could feel my body tensing in the heated water. I peaked over at my phone that rested on the counter before turning back to my bath.
"I'm not calling."
It was nearly 11 o'clock. I'm sure he doesn't want to be bothered with a frozen patient. What would he possibly say that anyone else hasn't already said? I found myself thinking on the topic before being broken out of the trans by a knock.
"Your dinner slash midnight snack is ready Sky."
"Okay, thanks mom."

Dinner consisted of talks of graduation and birthday plans. It was only 2 months away and I planned to do nothing. My parents aren't allowing 'one of the best memories ever' to be lost. Although I couldn't care less about that day. My birthday on the other hand was different. I always told mom that the only thing I wanted on my 19th was to be normal. No more anxiety. I wanted to go out and party how the regular kids do. So this talk wasn't any different and after a while I excused myself from the table.
I clicked my nails over my phone screen thinking about my birthday. It'll be another year of grocery store cake and money because they didn't know what to get me, considering I don't talk a lot.

A 30 second clip of Magnolia played for 5 minutes before I could pick my head up. I groaned out of annoyance then cut the alarm off. School isn't the greatest thing to wake up to, it's got to be the worst. I'm a senior so I don't have P.E anymore and I was good at that. I could run like my life depended on it. I only have 4 classes; Economics, Calculus, AP US History, and for my elective, I sit in a Counselors office and listen to her talk about herself since I refuse to speak to her. It's not that I freeze around her it's just that she never helped me throughout my 4 years of high school. So she definitely couldn't help now.

I stood at my dresser sliding my heavy braids into a ponytail before seeing Mr. Power's number sticky noted to it.
"Sky it's time to go."
I quickly crumbled the paper and tossed it. I didn't think talking to him was a good idea. Plus Mom had to forget already.
