A couple of weeks later, Harry took his bike to Kurt's house. It must've looked pretty weird. A teenager with a fancy outfit on a bike. But he didn't really care. He was going to Christmas dinner; it was the only thing he could've asked for during the holidays.Mercedes's mom was driving Ginny to the house, so Harry didn't have to worry about picking her up or anything, luckily. It wasn't like he had a car or anything.
When he arrived, the amount of decorations and colourful lights expertly placed in the front yard pleasantly surprised him. He assumed it was Kurt's work, as no one but him could've decorated so elaborately.
Before Harry knocked on the door, he took a deep breath, the cool, fresh air coursing through his lungs and nose.
Then, without warning, his fist was banging on the door. It took a few seconds for it to open, Kurt appearing with a bright smile.
"Hey Harry! Glad you could come!"
"Hi," Harry said, his voice small.
As he walked into the house, a brilliant smell took over his senses. He assumed it was Kurt's cooking, as nothing on earth could've smelled better.
"Ginny is already here, by the way," Kurt said lightly, then dashed back to the kitchen, presumably to continue cooking.
The inside of the house was just as extravagantly decorated as the outside. Lights lined the top of the walls, and the large Christmas tree in the living room stood tall with pride. He placed his presents under the tree with the rest of them.
He looked at the tree in awe for a minute, then walked around, trying to find Ginny. The layout of the house was very familiar, as he had been here with Kurt and Blaine countless times for dinner, and movie marathons.
Burt, Kurt's dad, seemed to like him, but Harry wasn't completely sure. Kurt had informed him many times that he was unnecessarily protective of him, which explained the constant checkups on what they were doing.
Blaine had said frequently that he didn't really like that too much.
It zoomed Harry out of his thoughts when he saw Ginny. She was wearing a dress made of a fine black silk, her hair in loose curls that swayed when she moved. She turned around when she heard his footsteps; her face relaxing when she realized it was her boyfriend.
"Hey," she whispered, her tone almost ... sad.
"What's wrong?" Harry asked automatically, grabbing her hands in his.
Ginny chuckled, there was no humour in her tone. "You overreact too much. I'm fine, just disappointed. I-" Her pause made Harry's heart wrench. "I got kicked off the Cheerios."
Harry's jaw dropped. "What, why?"
"Coach Sue said I didn't look good enough for the part anymore."
She was holding in tears, Harry realized. He squeezed her hands, then pulled her into his chest. "You're beautiful, don't forget that," he murmured into her head.
Soft cries could be heard, and Harry secretly hoped that no one came over.
Ginny then suddenly pulled away. "I shouldn't be crying, I'll ruin my mascara."
"No, it still looks perfect," Harry reassured, wiping the tears off of her face, trying his best to remain clear of the makeup on her eyes and cheeks. "Now come on, Kurt's probably doesn't know where we are."
His hand found hers again, and they walked back into the living room, where Burt, Blaine and Finn were sitting on the couch watching a football game. Finn and Burt looked very interested in the game, but Harry noticed the Blaine kept looking towards the kitchen, probably anticipating the chance for food.
