Harry followed Blaine and Kurt out of the school, glad to be away from the crowds of people. The sun hit his bright green eyes through his glasses, and he gazed at the various vehicles in the parking lot. They suddenly stopped at a beautiful black, very expensive car. Blaine slid into the front seat, and Kurt went into the passenger seat, leaving Harry stuck in the back. The car drove off, and Kurt and Blaine began talking about things Harry didn't pay attention to. Instead he stared out the window, watching the buildings and stores pass by in blurs of color. Soon the car came to a stop at a large coffee shop. Lots of other cars were parked outside.
"Here we are Harry." Blaine said proudly, curtsying to him playfully. Kurt slapped him lightly on the shoulder, making all of them laugh.
Harry chuckled and followed the pair into the shop. He immediately saw it was buzzing with people, many of which looked to be about his age. They slipped undetected into the long line-up of people, and waited to order their drinks.
When it was finally their turn, Kurt spoke first. "Hi, could I please get a nonfat mocha, and a medium drip?" He gestured at Harry, who spoke his order in a perfect clearness.
"Could I please get some black tea?" It was one of the cheapest items on the menu - he didn't want to make Blaine pay too much. Kurt looked over at him with a smile and Harry looked away, embarrassed. Maybe he shouldn't have ordered tea, it made him look unusual.
They sat down at a table, sitting in an awkward silence as they sipped their drinks.
"So, Harry," Blaine started, putting his coffee down. "What's your favorite genre of music?"
Harry thought for a second, then answered. "80's rock." He said, a bit self consciously. "But I do like modern music too." He added, trying to redeem himself.
"We are very much alike then." Blaine said with a smile.
Kurt's eyes lit up, and then he was speaking really fast. "Do you like Broadway?"
"Uh, I've never really watched it before." Harry replied awkwardly, stuttering. He pushed his glasses up his face, and continued with his tea. Kurt face dropped again and another silence fell over them.
"So, why did you come to McKinley? Rachel said you came from England right?" Kurt said, diffusing the tension between them.
Harry hesitated. Did he tell them why he moved? He wouldn't mention the Wizarding World of course, but about the Dursleys? He needed someone he could trust, so he spoke in a calm, but confident voice. "My parents died when I was really young, and I was living with my aunt and uncle. I hated living with them, and they didn't really treat me like a real son." He took a breath, then continued. "I decided to leave them once I was old enough, so needed a place to live. I came here."
Both Blaine and Kurt's mouth widened in shock.
"You're living alone? With no family?" Blaine exploded, his hands raising from where they were resting on the table.
Harry shrugged. "It doesn't bother me."
"Harry, if you ever need to stay with someone, or ever feel lonely, you can come to either one of our houses. We're more than happy to help you out." Kurt said. Blaine nodded along with him.
Then a thought came to Harry's mind. "Why are you guys helping me like this?" He asked, a bit too sternly. "I just transferred to this school today, and you guys are treating me like royalty. I don't get it - why are you being so nice?"
Both Kurt and Blaine smiled the exact same smile. "Being nice is just how we roll in the New Directions." Blaine explained.
"The New Directions, what's that?" Harry asked.
