“He’s got Myrtle and Minty! I think they’re going to eat them, we have to do something.” Bilbo whined as Amanda rushed up to them. Kili looked to her and saw her face. There was something different about her, her caring eyes were now stone cold and fierce. She held her sword unsheathed in her right hand as she eyes scanned the area ahead
“Yes; you should. Mountain trolls are slow and stupid, and you’re so small.” Kili started turning his gazed to Bilbo.
“N--n--no--” Bilbo stuttered as Kilis eyes fell back to Amanda. Her jaw was clenched tightly as she eyes darted about.
“They’ll never see you.” Kili said to him finishing it off.
“No, no, no...” Bilbo began to say but was cut of by Kili smiling to him.
“It’s perfectly safe! We’ll be right behind you.” Kili said as Fili moved over to him.
“If you run into trouble, hoot twice like a barn owl, once like a brown owl.” Fili then finished and went to pushing him out towards the fire but was stopped by Amanda. Her stone cold gazed caught theirs and sent shivers through them.
" The hobbit is not going. Fili, Bilbo go back and inform Thorin about this. Kili go back and check on the rest of the Ponies." Amanda ordered them leaving no room for an argument.
" What are you going to do?" Kili asked worryingly as he looked to the three trolls and back to Amanda.
" I am going to get our ponies back. Now go!" Amanda growled and jumped over the log before they could argue. The three of them grumbled and watched as Amanda disappeared into the shadows. Kili went to go after her but was stopped by Kili.
" Kili, no." Fili told him holding him back.
" She could be killed!" Kili pleaded to him. Fili shook his head at his younger brother.
" Trust her, she is a Ranger and has been and seen a lot worse." Fili said as he pulled him and Bilbo to follow her orders. Amanda crept around the camp fire that had three large Mountain Trolls sitting around it. Steadying her breathing she spun around a tree and over to the pen where four ponies were. The Trolls were too busy cooking and talking to take notice of the Ranger as she began to cut away at the thick rope that held shut the gate.
“Mutton yesterday, mutton today, and blimey, if it don’t look like mutton again tomorrow.” On of the Trolls complained as Amanda struggled to cut the rope. It was thick and her sword was not exactly made for cutting rope. If she done it with one clean swipe, the trolls would notice her and that would be bad.
“Quit yer’ griping. These ain’t sheep. These is West Nags!” Another spat at him.
“Oh, I don’t like 'orse. I never 'ave. Not enough fat on them.” More complaining sounded as Amanda rolled her eyes.
“Well, it’s better than the leathery old farmer. All skin and bone, he was. I’m still picking bits of him out of me teeth.” Amanda sucked in a breath at his words. She knew it, they were the ones that killed that poor farmer. Then on of the trolls sneezed and Amanda cringed.
