"Cover your eyes babe." I tell Sof once a kissing scene comes on the tv. She's covers her eyes with both her hands, then slowly opens her fingers
to sneak a peak, so I cover her eyes with my hand."Can I look yet??" She wines. "Yes." I say and take away my hand since it's over now. "When is Jennifer coming back over?" She asks randomly. "She was just here last weekend babe." I giggle. "But that was soooo long ago." She pouts. "You like her, huh?" I ask.
"Yes! She's like my best friend." She shrugs. "Plus she's really smart." She says and I smile. "She's babysitting you on Wednesday since I have to run some errands, and I know you don't want to go with." I tell her. "Yes!" She says excitingly.
Eventually we finish the movie and it's basically time for bed. So Sofia heads upstairs and takes a shower before going to sleep in her room.
As I'm cleaning up in the kitchen, I hear the doorbell ring, which is weird at this time of night. I raise one brow and walk over to the front door. I look through the window, but it's too dark to see anything, so I just go to open the door, and there's Jennifer, sitting on the front step of my porch.
"Jennifer-. You okay?" I ask and she turns around. "Hi babyyy." She smiles big and struggles to stand up. I notice that she's dressed up and her makeup is done. "Oh my god, are you drunk??" I ask.
"I couldn't remember my address, so I came here." She tilts her head, along with her whole body, catching herself before she falls. "Jesus." I say and grab her arm, helping her inside.
"Are you crazy? What the fuck is wrong with you?" She asks. "I took an uber." She shrugs innocently. "What-?" I ask since that has nothing to do with what I said. "Sofia is upstairs asleep. What if she comes down and sees you like this??" I say and she makes that face where she's about to cry.
"Jennifer stop." I say sternly. "We're not doing this. Don't start crying." I say and she looks at me, teary-eyed, keeping her tears in.
"I'm sorry." She pouts. "Take me to your room please?" She slurs. I roll my eyes and walk her upstairs quietly, which is hard since she stumbles into almost everything we pass.
She plops down on my bed as I shut the door behind us. I grabbed her some water from downstairs before we came up here, so I hand it to her. She sits up and takes tiny sips.
"What are you doing here Jen?" I go ahead and ask her. "I told you, since my apartment is newww and everything, I forgot the address. But guess who's address I remembered." She says, wanting me to guess.
"Mine." I say bluntly and she smiles and nods. I sigh and look at her. She's so drunk. "Did you go out or something?" I ask her. "Sage forced me to go out tonight, and she ditched me for a hookup. So here I am." She says, looking around.
"Sage?" I tilt my head. "She's my bestfriend. For lifersss." She says and giggles a little. "Actually it's been kinda weird between us lately..." She starts to say. "Probably because I told her we're fucking." She says and I furrow my brows.
"You're joking-." I say and she shakes her head 'no'. "Nope. The first time I told her, she was all like 'Well was it good?', now she thinks it's confusing." She shrugs. "Because it is Jennifer. Look at you. My daughters babysitter showing up to my house drunk." I say and she looks at me.
"This might be a fun and normal thing for us right now, but the rest of the world will not look at it that way." I try to tell her. "So you can't just go around telling people." I say.
"Do you hear me?" I ask. "Yess." She wines. "Do not tell anyone else. Ok?" I ask and she nods. "Promise me." I say to her. "I promise I won't tell anyone else in the world that me and you are fucking." She says.
I sigh and nod my head. She holds out her pinky to make a pinky promise. "You're such a child." I say and can't help but smile a little. I make the promise with her, then I help her get cleaned up.
"Pleaseee let me stay here." She begs. "No. You've slept over too many times. We can't keep making up excuses to tell Sofia." I say. "I'm calling you an uber to take you home." I tell her. "No! Please just hold me." She tilts her head. "I can hold you any other day, right now is not the time." I tell her and order the uber.
"You need to go home, to your apartment, where you live, like the adult you are." I say and she sighs. "Why don't you like me?" She asks with a pouty face. "I do like you. If I didn't like you do you think I would've let you in my house??" I say and she stays quiet.
"Exactly. C'mon, let's go wait for the uber." I say and stand up. I take her downstairs and we walk out to the front porch.
We sit on one of the steps and she lays her head on my shoulder. "This is embarrassing. Do you hate me?" She asks and looks up at me, holding my arm. "Don't worry about it. We all have our moments. And I don't hate you." I tell her. "Nah uh. You've never had a moment like this in front of me." She says.
"Yes I have. Worse even." I tell her. "When-?" She asks with attitude. "Remember that time, when we were first getting to know eachother. Me and Angelo had been arguing, and you came over once he left, just to find me a hot mess, crying and everything." I remind her.
"Oh yeah." She remembers. "I felt so bad for you." She pouts. "See. We all have our moments." I prove my point. "You're right." She agrees. "I always am." I giggle.
"Mmmm." She doubts me and I giggle. Eventually the uber arrives and I help her get in, telling the driver her address. "Make sure you get into your apartment safely. Text me when you get home." I tell her as I'm talking to her though the car window.
"I will, I will." She sighs. "Ok. Bye baby." I tell her. "Bye." She says and leans closer to me, giving me an unexpected kiss. She smiles once she pulls away and the uber drives off.
