*leahs pov*

It's been 2 weeks since Halloween, and things are pretty much still the same.

I go downstairs to clean up before Sofia wakes up, then I hear a knock on the door.

I walk over to the front door and open it to see Jennifer's mom standing there.. "Lupe? Hi." I say a little confused. I know we're still neighbors and everything, but we never see eachother, and we haven't talked since Jen moved out.

"Hey Leah. I-I don't mean to bother you, but is Jennifer here?" She asks. I observe her for a second, realizing she doesn't look too good. She's definitely let herself go since her husband left.

"No. I'm sorry she's not here. Why?" I ask. "I just need to talk to her. And she never even told me where her new apartment is.." She forces a sad chuckle. "Well..I can take a message if you'd like." I say hesitantly.

She sighs and looks down. "Just tell my Jennifer that I'm sorry. I know she won't forgive me, but I need her to know that I miss her and I love her." She says, which kind of hurts my heart.

"I'm really not doing too well. And I know it's selfish to say that I need her since she needs her mother...and I haven't been there for her." She says. "Can you tell her that?" She asks, hopeful.

"Of course Lupe." I nod. "Thankyou so much Leah. She still babysits Sofia?" She asks and I nod my head 'yes'. "Here and there. I've talked to her about maybe going to your house and checking up on you, but you're never home when she's here." I tell her so she knows Jen still thinks about her.

"I know. God I know." She sighs. "I don't know what's gotten into me. My whole life is falling apart." She says and gets teary-eyed. "I understand. But you have to know that you had no business taking everything out on Jennifer. She's young, she didn't deserve that." I say.

I know I'm being nice to her, but I have to confront her a little after what she did. Of course I feel bad for Lupe, but I feel worse for Jennifer.

"I know. Tell Jennifer I'm trying. I'll get better." She forces a smile. I smile too and give her a small hug. "I'll let her know." I nod before she leaves.

Jesus. That woman has been out every day and night doing god knows what. She literally disappeared for months. I have no idea what went on with her, but I am glad she came to me, and that she still cares about Jennifer. Let's just hope Lupe keeps her word.

"Your mom stopped by." I mention to Jen and her eyes immediately cut in my direction. She babysat Sofia this morning while I was at work, and she stayed until Angelo came and picked up Sofia. So we're just talking now.

"What?" She says. "Your mom. She came to my house." I say and she furrows her brows. "What the fuck for?" She scoffs.

"She was looking for you, but you weren't here." I say and she listens. "Well what'd she have to say?" She asks.

"She wanted me to tell you that she misses you, and loves you...anddd needs you." I continue on. She puts a look of harsh disgust on her face.

"I can't believe her. What did it take for her to finally say that?" She asks me and I shrug my shoulders since I don't know anything.

"She sounded serious Jen. And she didn't look too good." I say. "That's not surprising." She shrugs. "I think you should talk to her. I know what she did was fucked up, but I don't think she has anyone right now." I say and she looks away.

"She said she wanted to change, and if she means it then I think your presence would help her." I tilt my head.

I can tell she's thinking about it by her face, but she tries to hide it. "Maybe. But it's not that easy." She shrugs and looks at me.

"I know, but maybe you could-." She cuts me off. "Let's not talk about this right now.." She tilts her head and scooches closer to me as we're sitting on the couch.

"Then what do you wanna talk about?" I ask kind of annoyed since I think we should have this conversation about her mom.

"Nothing." She says and crawls onto my lap, straddling me. "The only thing I wanna hear right now, is the sound of my own moans." She tilts her head and puts her hands at my neck before kissing me.

"Are you distracting me with sex?" I raise one brow. "Is it working?" She asks and continues to kiss at my neck. "No." I say and she pulls away, looking at me with that 'yeah right' look. "Ok. Maybe a little." I shrug and she smiles, getting back to work.

We continue to enjoy the most amazing hour I've ever had, until we both finish.

Jen gets up to go take a shower, and I just lay there. As I'm looking up at the ceiling, I can't help but think about Lupe, and what she said.

Hearing that come from a mother, I guess it kind of hits home with me and makes me have empathy for Lupe. Even though she's been pretty shitty lately.

As I continue to think, I kind of go down this loop hole in my mind. I sit up and put my hand at my head as I feel myself start to overthink.

I'm sitting here, feeling bad for Lupe and her situation, yet I just had sex with her daughter...

I don't know why I'm feeling this way when I never did in the beginning. I wanted Jennifer so bad. But now, I feel like I can't even recognize myself. Jennifer is literally still considered a child to people my age.

It's not like this is illegal or anything, but it's more of the fact that I'm weirding myself out right now. Its almost like a disgusted feeling.

I stand up and quickly put my clothes on right when Jennifer walks down the stairs. "Got somewhere to be?" Jen asks and I look at her.

"Yeah actually. Work just called me and they need me to come in." I lie. "Oh ok. Want me to drive you?" She asks and adjusts her towel. "No, they said it was urgent so I'm just gonna leave now. Don't you have class soon anyway?" I ask and get on my shoes.

She looks over at the clock on the wall, checking the time. "Not for another hour." She says and another state of overthinking hits me. I just asked my lover if she has class soon. This just reminds me of how young she is.

"Ok- well you can hang out here until then if you want. Or leave. Whatever you wanna do." I shrug and I can tell she's confused by my antsy behavior.

"See you later." I say and walk out the door.
