Emma's POV

I saw Sophie down in dumps her misty eyes met mine the she breakdown completely again and paused then continued to tell her story. Her endless suffering and her face plastered with questions I did not have answers.

A tear rolled down my eye.

' What happened that day , Sophie ? ' I inquired she got up and gathered herself towards the window and sighed.

She even didn't looked like best friend I knew since childhood. She looked weak , fragile woman whose eyes were wan it totally lacked the fiercely ignited fire once it burnt with. She seemed completely unknown a total stranger I almost loathe the feeling that something since childhood I would loose and I was loosing her the emptiness of her eyes told maybe I have lost her.

She walked towards me again and deposited herself on sofa's corner. She looked into my eyes and then her gaze flickered back to the window.

' So , You don't trust me with your secrets. Now.' I closed my hands together and my mouth in between it I stretched my legs and sat in comfortable position. I stared at her but she was looking down towards the fur she was continuously stroking it and looking out of the window.

I looked out of the window. Winter was appearing the chill winds started to blow in the direction. Soon I will be deported again I have to take suitcase of memories with my friends and family. So when I am al---

' Rebecca , was the first one to reach at my room in the morning. She cleaned me and applied band aid on my wounds. Then Alarick came we went out for lunch since then I have been here all alone.' She folded the shawl in front of her my eyes narrowed.

' I asked what happened before that , Sophie.' Her hands stopped in tracks she gasped air and sighed and relaxed her back.

' How did you know I was here?' She questioned waiting for response.

' I -- Actually I mean your mother sent me here to know about your whereabouts then I met Alyssa. She told me you shifted in with Alarick.' I told her.

' Mom. How is my mom ?' She cross questioned. I had no clue because I have not met her. Something refrained myself to let her know how I found her.

' She is good. Do visit her , Sophie.' She fixed her eyes on me.

' I told you , Alarick won't let me.' She was exasperated then she ceased stroking the sofa fur immediately and start to pull it.

Her gaze followed the motion. I saw an awkward man with acne face bringing the food inside. I turned towards Sophie.

' Why won't Alarick allow you ?' She put finger on her lips and hushed me.

I raised my eyebrow and mouthed
' Why ?' then her eyes fixed on me she mouthed ' James ' back to me in an inaudible volume. I turned around to see the guy and stared back at Sophie continuously whose gaze still following James getting out the room.

She got up from the place towards the door peeped outside and shut it behind her.

' Don't ever believe any word said to you from person who belongs to this house.' She quotted I was staring at her in disbelief. She narrated me the whole story then she saw the glass door surveying each corner. She then rushed towards me without me noticing stood in front of me.

' Whatever I have to say listen to me carefully.' She spoke louder and I removed hand from my head.

' I want to runaway from this place. As soon as possible. ' Then I scrutinized her angular face with freckles and her blonde hair in the bun. She was towering over me above all her tensed expression.

' I want to runaway. You tell Alarick you would like to stay at this place for few days to help me escape.' She vehemently declared even not taking my consent into consideration I knew this was same Sophie.

The door creaked and flung open. I saw a weird figure standing with plates in his hands he put down the plates on table and Sophie's lips drew into thin line.

' If you are done James. Let me talk to her.' She patted his shoulder and threw him fake smile.

Then he was gone and Sophie walked behind him and then banged the door tightly on his face even shocking me in the process.

She sat in front of me took the jar of juice in her hand and poured it in the glass.

' What do you think of it ?' She raised both her eyebrows and handed me glass of juice.

' Sophie , if you want to break up with Alarick talk to him directly. What's point of running away.' She gulped hard and frowned at me.

' So you won't help. I will jump of the rooftop. Trust me I can do that.' My face flushed and heart beated louder against my chest I looked at her she was fuming with anger , her teeth clenched and her jaws were tight. I regarded her under my eyes and gasped air. We could loose her in this lunacy.

' I will. I will help you.' She sighed with relief and I began to deliberate on the fact I was told when I entered inside for meeting her. I wiped my face with my hand and grabbed my mobile and sent a text.

' Are you going to say to Alarick ?' She distracted me while typing and I nodded back at her.

Let's meet at the place where we have decided . I texted back. While Sophie was walking back and forth rehearsing the conversation for the day she going to break free.

' I should leave , Sophie. I will meet Alarick tomorrow.' I shook my hands with her while she hugged me tight almost suffocating me.

I left the place bewildered in my own thoughts.

' I shall be leaving you till the door.' She smiled at me beaming with joy.

' I will go by my own.' I reverted the smile and got out from the room.

Whatever happened inside was weird. I recalled everything Sophie's recital of her enduring pain I was bewildered by my thoughts until I realized I stood in front of the lake outside the mansion.

I saw the still water and a bone chilling cold I hugged myself but shiver ran throw my body. I hugged more closely.

Then I saw shadow looming over me I turned around to see. He put his jacket around me.

' Thanks.' I grinned and he grinned back. I saw his face weird and awkward his eyes and the cut eyebrow.

' Alarick , can we sit and talk.' He paced forward showing me the way towards the bench and I sat.
