Mphakamseni The Arranged Man
#14

NGCOBO HOUSEHOLD

Things are starting to spiral out of control from happiness to sourness. Muzi the eldest son is swimming in alcohol and he doesn't go a day without drinking. He was moved to an outside shack that once belonged to Mphakamseni. His previous big room was given to Lungelo the fourth born. Sphesihle is hardly home he spends most of the night in his girlfriends place. As everyone knows that Ndlela Sibalkhulu was prisoned a life sentence due to fraud and corruption, the CEO position was vacant. Gcina tries by all means to avoid the family drama and spends most of his time with Phaka. Lungelo is a hard-core son who only thinks of himself. When ever he touches or try to fix things he ends up destroying it.
The atmosphere in this house is draining. Zamkithi makes sure that she makes Muzi and Sphe's life miserable day by day.
"Simon I think Lungelo should earn more since he is the only son who's responsible." Zamkithi says looking at Simon.
"I second you, I don't know what has gotten into those two, they are just destroying my home and everything I've worked hard for. I am now starting to doubt, are they even my biological sons?"
Zamkithi side smiles, everything is working on her favour. She wants everything that Simon owns belong to Lungelo.
"I've been thinking, you see Sphe cannot take good care of that minister's daughter. I want her to marry my son and our family business will boom more. Think about it, imagine us gaining more." Zamkithi beams in excitement.
Simon was tounge tied cause he knows how Sphe love's his girlfriend. How will he even approach this matter. As much as he hates the idea his wife was right he thought.
"I'll have a talk with Sphesihle." He managed to say.

__________

Later that day in the evening, everyone was sited quietly in the dinning room table and Muzi noticed that they were not served.
"Hau what about us?" He asks with a frown on his face. To even think that he once thought that this woman will bring happiness into their lives, but clearly he was wrong.
"Why would I serve drunkards like you. You don't even know where your life is heading. Did you're mother serve you two, of course you wouldn't know cause you hated her" she chucks bitterly.
"Baba is this really m...." He sentence was cut short before he can even proceed any further.
"SHUT THE HELL UP! If you want food go work like other peers instead of milking me dry. Atleast Lungelo is responsible unlike you two. You are just useless like your mother, I'm glad that chacol left my house. You know what it's time for you to leave my house right this minute. I cannot stand the site of you!" Simon barks making Muzi look at him astonishingly. Is this really his father or a monster he doesn't know?
"You forgot to tell them that we have come to a conclusion that Lungelo marries Nqobile since his financially stable." Zamkithi adds.
"Over my dead body!" Sphe bangs the table in anger making Zamkithi startle in fear.
"Ow yes over my living body. It's not up for discussion. The negotiations will take place next week." Lungelo smirked looking at them. He is enjoying every bit of this moment. Who wouldn't want to be under Nqobile's skirt? That girl is beautiful.
Sphe looked at his father with bloody red shot eyes. First he fired them, stripped them off their positions at work and now he wants to take something that he cherished dearly. He stood up roughly making the huge table fall making plates and food scatter everywhere. He is beyond mad and pissed.
Gcina quietly looked at the scene with a broken heart. His mother has turned into something he doesn't notice anymore. He stood up quickly and went to his room with so much hate and anger and packed every item that belonged to him. He knows that his brother has a flat that he doesn't use, if only he could crash their until he finishes his exams. He sneaked out of the house without anyone noticing and he ran out of the gate with his heavy bags, luckily he has cash with him all thanks to his brother Phaka.
Sphe was laying on his bed thinking about how life has turned out. The way they use to be close and happy with their father. Muzi walked in with a long face and he layed next to his brother facing the ceiling.
"I don't understand what's happening. We were once happy with our father but now we look like sworn enemies right infront of his eyes." Sphe says with a heavy broken heart.
"If I knew that this woman had an agenda I wouldn't have allowed her in this house in the first place." Muzi spits, Zamkithi is not the woman he thought she was.
"Do you sometimes think of mu.... them….I mean Phaka's and Bongekile?" She asks turning to look at Muzi who looks like he was miles away.
Muzi kept quite for a while. They once had a mother but too naive to notice her. They though this woman will play a motherly role to them.
Their biological mother tried by all means to be a good mother but they lashed her away to an extent that they were chased out like worthless dogs. He wonders how Phaka's is doing, how his mother is doing. "I wonder where they are." Muzi finally manages to say. He sighs desperately.
"If only I knew what I was doing back then I wouldn't have done any of all those things, but I was too blind and too stupid. Its like I was blinded by something. Come to think of it why did we do all those cruel things we did to them. I made my own mother cry day and night without care. Not even once I felt remorse for what I did." Sphe says covering his face.
"Karma has visited us it knows it's address and never forgets. The things we did to them are now happening to us. I think we should start looking for them, don't even know where to start and I need a job." Muzi sighs.
"I heard that there's this oil and gas company which is hiring for security. It's better than nothing. We should go try there." Life wasn't supposed to turn out this way!

GCINOKUHLE

I may be young but but my mind works like a 20 year old person. The only person who treats me like a man is buti Phaka, that guy is a whole mood. The wife is so welcoming and has a pure heart I wouldn't mind living with them. After I left my father's house I requested and went straight to my brother's house, I can't be with my parents they are too toxic. I've always wished for a family but the family I have is a curse.
I ring the bell, Phaka opened and gave me that look.
"Ntwana uright?" He asks looking at the bags in confusion.
"Can I stay in your flat until I'm done with my final exams." I sniff trying to hold it together.
Phaka pulled him inside giving him a gentle rub on his back and they sat down.
"Tell me what happened."
Gcina takes a deep breath, "everything is falling apart, Lungelo is now the new CEO and his destroying everything. Muzi and Sphe have been kicked out of the house by my mother and they were also fired at dad's work without a valid reason. What's worse mum wants Lungelo to marry Sphe's girlfriend. They sometimes go to bed with empty stomachs, even dad has turned their backs on them. I can't sit and watch all of that, I can't even prepare for my final exams so I decided to run away from home. That's why I'm here buti I don't have any where else to go. I just want to live in your flat until I finish writing. I don't even know where Muzi and Sphe will go cause they don't even have R10 in their accounts." China further explains the situation. I don't hate them they are my blood. But those people put me through so much pain and misery.

What leads to hatred will vary from person to person. It is not uncommon for hated to be a surface emotion that protects the self from deeper, more painful emotions lurking beneath such as shame, self-hatred, grief, sadness, and rejection. Better understanding your hatred can help you begin to cope with the situation in healthy ways. Experiencing parental rejection is one of the most painful situations anyone can go through whether you are an adult or child. Parental rejection can feel like a loss as painful as death, because as humans we are hard-wired to know that we need our parent(s) or a consistent caregiver to survive from infancy on. Gcina is feeling this rejection because his mother is busy chasing after what doesn't belong to her. It hurts him that there is no love in that place only pain and constant nagging. For a change he will have a peaceful mind, be able to study towards his exams. Life is indeed a liar.
