Mphakamseni The Arranged Man
#23MPHAKAMSENI
He drove like a manic to the minister's house, he didn't even wanted to get inside of the house. He just parked outside the gate. He calmed himself down before knocking on the door.
"What brings you here so early in the morning? Is everything alright with the contractors?" The minister asks with a slight frown on his face.
"Everything is good. Where's your daughter?" Phaka's asks with his voice full of authority.
"She already left for work. You can come check her later on or rather you could drive to her workplace." He suggested.
Phaka stood there and thought for a while, why not play the game she's playing. Next time she would know never to mess with people's husband's. Embarrassing her infront of the world won't be a bad thing.
"It's okay I'll just call her and set an appointment." He turns to walk back to his car. "I hate bitches." He sucked on his teeth together in anger. He roars the engine and drives straight to the hospital. He arrived at the hospital finding everyone there, but unfortunately there's no progress in Muzi's case. He is still in a coma not responding to any treatment given and the doctor's are starting to loose hope. A nurse disturbed their silence of peace.
"Greetings, excuse me sir," referring to Phaka. "There is a man that will like to have a word with you. He told me to be on the look for you incase you come to the hospital." The nurse informs the confused Phaka. If it's people wanting selfies and autotographs. They must forget! He is going through the most right now.
"You can go. Maybe it's someone who needs help son." Bongekile tells him.
Phaka didn't want to go but didn't want to look disrespectful infront of everyone. He nodded and followed the nurse along the long passage not knowing where his being taken to. What if it's one of those pranks? What if his about to be kidnapped? He doesn't trust anyone other than his wife.
They went inside the ward and saw the man he thought he will never set his eyes on ever again. His feet became wobbly and he wanted to turn and walk back. He decided to walk towards him, it's time he faced him and not become a coward.
"Son," Simon greets with a shaky voice, Phaka remained quite not too sure how too respond to his 'supposed' greetings. "I know I'm not your favourite person and I don't blame you. I've done alot of horrible things to you and your mother. Honest truth my sister made me believe lies that she created in that sick head of hers - and stupid me believed her; not knowing I'm tearing my family apart. Not knowing it will cost me my life. I hate myself for everything I did. Can you please grant me this one request, please call your mother for me I know she's here, please son. His eye's became watery and bloodshot.
Phaka sighed as he looked at him with begging eyes laying on his hospital bed. He went out to go call his mother.
"He request your presences, and he didn't tell me why."
"Aibo," Bongekile sounds shocked and turns to look at her husband Zubby for permission.
"You can go, I'm sure he won't bite." He assures her.
"Pops are you sure. I mean h...."
"I'm sure. I will be in the car with Gcina."
"If I'm going to sit on the driver's side." Gcina says excitedly as they walk out with Zubby fighting over a seat.
On the other side of the entrance Sphe walked in with his hands buried deep in his pockets. He saw a nurse carrying alot of heavy files and he offered his help.
"Whoa thank you," she says wiping her unexisting sweat on her forehead. Sphe smiled admiring this dark thick beauty madam. He has always been attracted to slim yellow bone. But her skin is flourishing with that melodic voice topped the deck.
The nurse snapped her fingers at him with beautiful shaped coffin nails. "Are you still here with me or you're in your own country world." She smiles.
"You're beauty is making me like this, seriously I'm captured. He looked at her name tag 'Angela Cele' "indeed you're an angel".
"I'm flattered," she says holding her chest dramatically.
"Will be having a braai at my brother's place this weekend and I was told not to attend unless if I bring my plus one. Can you be my plus one?"
"And what will you introduce me as?"
"My wife," the laugh. He takes out his phone and giving it to her. "Don't try to deny me my rights."
At first she was hesitant but ended up punching her digits. She doesn't want to sound like a cheap girl that gives easily.
"I prefer if you save it as my wife not by your name." He adds making her to smile innocently and did as she was told.
"Dear," She hands him back his phone.
"Thanks I will call you." He kissed her cheek leaving her flushed drawing circles with her toes and watched him as he walked out.
Phaka saw him approaching and he has this silly grin on his face.
"You're smiling like an idiot, what's the catch?"
"I just saw my beautiful wife," he says smiling like a retarched.
"huh, as in Nqo?" Obviously Phaka is confused.
"Don't tell me about that one, that ship sealed a long time ago."
"That reminds me," Phaka takes out his phone and showed him the pictures. "This right her made my wife cry this morning. And this bitch once came to my office to seduce me infront of my wife. How can you send a married man picture's of your private part. I want to deal with her and I'm so clueless how.
"I long knew that there's another man involved but I didn't know it was you." Sphe looked at the picture's closely and indeed it's here.
"Clearly this girl is sick in her head, how can she stoop so low?"
"I'm not even mad or heartbroken I'm just upset that she had to go for a married man who happens to be my brother. Tell you what play her like the fool she is. Agree on meeting her and then boom I tag along. I just want to see her facial expression."
"Will she get off my back cause honestly I don't want to fight with my wife over stupid hoes."
"It will trust me, but I will advise you to inform your wife about the plan." She advises Phaka.
"What plan? Zelo asks approaching them from the behind.
Phaka filled her in of the plan he thinks that might be right to get Nqo of her back.
"Okay, not bad. I just want her off your back. This girl can even cry rape. I don't trust her."
"Then it's settled. Let me go and see the old man cause Muzi enjoys sleeping here. The doctor's are not even updating us. I'm just tired of the same old song 'no changes, he is still in a comma'. I sometimes question their knowledge of work."SPHESIHLE
My relationship with my brother was getting better day by day. He showed me that loyalty is very important. If it was another guy he wouldn't have given me a second chance, he would have let bygones be bygones. I admire his honesty and charisma. Many different things can cause siblings to fight. Most brothers and sisters experience some degree of jealousy or competition, and this can flare into squabbles and bickering. But other factors also might influence how often kids fight and how severe the fighting gets. Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” My brother forgave me whole heartedly and for that I will always be thankful.
I decided go see the old man today since I'm off, I'm also trying to make ends meet with my mother. As much I hurt her- I will always love her no matter what.
As I'm approaching I hear a familiar voice. No it can't be, is this the same woman that gave birth to me. I stood there like a froze chicken rather a statue not knowing what to say. My eye's blinked with tears. My heart ached painfully, she's changed - completely changed.
"Come give your mama a hug.
She opened her arms for me, I didn't waste anymore time nor object. I just threw myself in her arms and felt the mother's love and cried in her arms. This is how it feels to be embraced by the woman you have birth to you.
"Mama I'm sorry," I'm crying with hurt, sadness and shame. She didn't deserve what we did to her.
"It's okay son we all make mistakes. I thank God for bringing your head back to your senses." She wiped his tears using her thumbs.
Phaka's walked in finding Sphesihle in his mother's arms.
"Sorry to disturb the moment, but dad said I must remind you that you have a meeting in an hour." Phaka reminds his mother who has totally forgotten.
"Ow Jehovah, I totally forgot!" She turns to look at Simon. "Think about what I've said." Simon was still confused about the 'dad' part. Who was Phaka referring to?
"You said dad. Who's that dad?"
Phaka clears his throat not too sure whether to answer or not. "It's my step dad Mr Simon."
"He has a step father while I'm still alive?" Simon directs the question to Bonge.
"After you divorced me I re-married." Bongekile answers from herself.
"WHAT!!" That came out as a shocker. Simon didn't expect this kind of news, maybe God is testing him for some reason.
"Take care of yourself, and make sure you recover. Your kids are still they need you - their father." She gets hold of bag and walked out without waiting for him to respond.
"Phaka wait, before you go. Who's that man that your mother married?" He asks out of curiosity. The news got to him hard but trying to stay strong.
"Zubby Godson."
Simon's eyes became dry making it hard for him to blink. So she married a man that always had a crush on her. So he was still waiting for her all these years. He waited for the opportunity to avail it's and he striked. Maybe dying will be the best option. He was all alone, what's the use of hoping that his family will be one someday. Clearly he failed and there is no comeback after this!
Visiting hours were over and he had a lot to think about, his life, failed career, failed marriage. He once had it all and he destroyed it without noticing.
He took the pills and looked at them. He swallowed them one by one until his eyes became heavy and he allowed darkness to take over.
