chapter 2 (how they met)

Alex Santos work as a teller in a bank owned by the Merrill's, it's been a year since she was hired and her performance is noticed already that she was voted employee of the month twice. Most of the client asks for Alex to do their transaction.

Alex is always polite and patient with the customers and every questions that every client asks Alex always have the proper answer. And she's really into details she works fast and she's very efficient. Most of her client told to a friend how efficient she is and that friend told it to another friend and to the other.

Good words spread and because of that; Alex doubled the number of depositor. The CEO Harrison Merrill who happens to be the father of Ace Merrill heard the news. So, he told his son to check this certain employee named Alex Santos and give her some credit.

Ace Merrill is the only son of Harrison Merrill; he graduated at Harvard and finished his studies with flying colors. After graduation his father trained him personally.

Ace is a fast learner, six months of training and he knows everything already, but Ace is far more different from his father, since he's young he is so eager and hot tempered. Ace is very intensive with the prospect client and he possesses a strong will and power and Ace is also somewhat dominant.

And in a fast facing world where antagonism is everywhere Ace tactics becomes really effective. And it's  already obvious that Ace will replace his father when the good old Mr. Merrill retire. And everybody seems to agree with the idea. Ace is hard working and there is no doubt he's got his father's touch when it comes to running an enterprise.

"I don't understand why Dad asks me to do this stupid thing." Ace is talking to his mother on the phone.

Ace doesn't like talking to employees, oftentimes, he ignored his people when they greeted him but sometimes when he's in a good mood he returned the favor and give them a smile.

Most employees like that, especially women... seeing Ace Merrill smiled at you makes you feel really important. It boost you're self steam.

And why not! Ace is one of the most sought after bachelor in town. He is not just good looking; he is what his employees called "limited edition" the perfect definition of ruggedly handsome.

Not to mention he is rich and he have this intimidating look, the kind of intimidation that you will say "yes" to everything he tells you to do.

Ace told his mom that he reach the bank already; he bid his goodbye and walks inside. The bank where Alex is working as a teller is the corporation's mother branch. This is where it all started, how the old Mr. Merrill made the family's fortune.

As Ace entered with his assistant Michelle the bank manager Mr. Gerald greets them. Mr. Ace assistant Michelle made an arrangement before Ace arrived. Everybody stand up when they saw Mr. Ace Merrill.

Each and every employee he passes by greets him.

The bank hasn't opened yet, Ace made sure that he come before the bank starts to entertain clients. He doesn't want his employees job to punctuate because of his presence.

Every teller stood up from their sits and greet Ace in a flirtatious way, while Ace who seems to be in a very good mood smiled at them sweetly following his mother's advice. "Be kind to our employees son, we owed them that." So, as he walks inside he greeted everyone and smiled back at them. Because of that all the lady employees felt they're special.

Everybody have their attention at their boss, everybody stopped with what they are doing to greet Ace Merrill. Especially the women... everybody except with the lady at counter 10.

She's pretty busy and her attention is at her computer, the lady is very engrossed with whatever she's doing. Ace noticed that his presence seems unnoticed so he asks Michelle who is the lady on counter 10.

"That's Alex Santos." Michelle whispered at him.

"I'm sorry Mr. Merrill but Miss Santos is too busy with her 9:00 am." The manager explained why this certain Alex Santos doesn't have her attention to him.

"What 9:00 am? And please Mr. Merrill is my father."

"I'm sorry Mr. Ace, she have a 9:00 am appointment with Mr. Chan."

"Mr. Chan, the Chinese consulate?"

"Yes Mr. Ace, I will let Miss Santos know you wanted to meet her in your office."

"No, let me handle her." Ace motions his hand telling the manager to stay put.

Ace walk towards directly to Alex, the lady on the counter before Alex wants to warn her but Ace motions his finger to tell the employee not too. The employee comply with intimidation.

"Excuse me." Ace said with autocracy at his voice.

Alex lifts her head up, she smiled a bit and say "I'm sorry Sir, but we are not open yet." Alex turn her eyes and attention back at the monitor of her computer.

All the employees are surprised with Alex's action and so does Ace, when Alex continue to do what shes doing Ace begun to lose his temper. 'What the heck is she doing, doesn't she recognize me?' Ace thought to himself.

"I'm not a client." Ace said with composure.

"I'm sorry Sir, but you have to wait till the bank opens." Alex said without looking at him.

The branch manager and Michelle felt that Mr. Ace will soon burst his anger towards Alex Santos who ignore their boss, both of them move and rush themselves towards Alex to warn her but Ace motions his hand and stop both of them.

"You are Alex Santos right?" Ace continue as he maintain his equanimity, this is the first time a woman ignores his presence.

"With all due respect Sir, I will attend to your needs once we are open maybe you should wait." Alex said with a bit of annoyance on her voice.

'Unbelievable' Ace told to himself as he look at Alex. Is this really the teller his father told him? There is nothing nice with this lady.

"You can't let me wait!" Ace baritone voice echoed in the whole building because there's real authority at his voice this time.

"I beg your pardon?" Alex raise her voice a bit and furrowed her eyebrows while she look straight at his eyes.

"I need to see you in my office Miss Santos, NOW!" Ace commands her then he turn his back and walk towards at the CEO's office while Alex left confused.

"Are you out of your mind?" Tracy said, Tracy is Alex's best friend and roommate and she also works as a teller and her post is before Alex's post. "That was Mr. Merrill!"

Confused look is still plastered all over Alex's face.

"Mr. Ace Merrill, Mr. Merrill's son."

"Oh my God! why didn't you warn me?"

"I was about too, when he arrived and you haven't notice and I don't know why? I tried to tell you but he told me not too."

"When did you talk to him?"

"I didn't talk to him... he came in... I greeted him... we all greeted him...in fact,  everybody greeted him except you and Mr. Ace OBVIOUSLY noticed that so he walked right straight at you and you said 'we are not open yet'' that is not something you would say especially to the heir of 'Affluence Corporation.' How the heck did you not recognize him?"

"Am I going to be in trouble?" Alex is worried.
