Ace went back to California frustrated with Alex.

“How can she turn down my help Michelle, why does she hate me so much?”

“You blamed her with her accident, Alex want that baby more than anyone else.”

“Don’t fool me Michelle, I heard you guys talking that evening, Alex said she doesn’t want the baby.”

“If you really heard us talking how come you didn’t know Alex wanted that child badly.”

“Yeah right, she said having a kid is not part of the plan and she told you to keep it a secret, don’t tell Ace not even to Tony that was her exact words?”

“Because she thought you’re not ready to have a child.”

“Don’t give me that, I told to my parent’s kids needs planning because…you know what forget about it… I don’t buy that excuse ‘I’m not ready to be a father’ bull shit. I forced her to marry me, why wouldn’t I want to have a child with her, did she ever thought of that? She’s the one who doesn’t want to have kids because maybe deep inside her she hates me, and she doesn’t want to be with me. So, when she had that chance….”

“Ace” Michelle cuts him “You know what your problem is? You only listened to what you wanted to hear. And you would only think what you wanted to think.”

“Don’t lecture me Michelle.”

“No! You will listen to me! I asked Alex if she wanted that kid. Her exact words, I love it, I have a life in me and it came from Ace.”

Ace look at Michelle, he was surprised, he didn’t know that.

“You never heard her say that?” Michelle asks.

“I left after the ‘don’t tell Ace not even to Tony’ part.” Ace rest his forehead on his hand and took a deep breath.

“Great, that’s why you haven’t heard the good part. She also said, having a kid from you is the best thing that ever happened to her. And that evening when she had an accident, she prepared a festive dinner for you. She was going to tell you that she’s pregnant regardless if you will like it or not. She was about to tell you, if only that soap was not on the floor.”

“What soap?” Ace suddenly turns his head to Michelle.

“The reason why she fell on the floor, it’s too late before she can see it; she stepped into the soap and boom.”

“Oh my god…” Ace brushed his hair from his forehead while he rests his back on the sofa; he started to be anxious when he looked at Michelle. “It was my fault all along… I drop that soap and I forgot to pick it up because I was late for work and…oh my god Michelle.”

Michelle plastered a shock look, but there’s no point in blaming whose fault it is.

“It’s not yet too late Ace, talk to her.”

“How would I do that, she hates me, she doesn’t want to talk to me. Michelle she would hate me more if I told her about the soap, this is my entire fault all along and I blamed her, the worst part of it all…I accused her of something she would never do. How can I be so stupid?”

“She hated you before Ace, but you won her heart, you have her once, you can have her again if you show to her you’re sincere. Just like you showed how sincere you are when you were in the island.”

“You think so?” Ace looks at Michelle, he is hopeless.

Michelle smiled at him and gently pats his shoulder.

“Let’s hope for the best.”
