Chapter 27 (It is Time to Give up)

Ace asks Tony to find Alex.

According to Tony...

"Alex moved back with her parents, and since she used to be the face of Affluent and the famous ex-Mrs. Ace Merrill Asset Corporation hired her."

"Asset? Affluent rival?" Ace is really surprised.

"Nothing else." Tony shrugged his shoulders.

Ace went into deep thinking; now that Alex is working with Asset that would be a little harder for him, if he talked to Alex at Asset office the corporation might think he's just spying on them.

"So what are you going to do? Tony asks Ace.

"Whatever it takes to win her back." Ace is firm with his decision.

"Asset might think you are spying on them." Tony warns him.

But Ace is so determined. "My aim is to win Alex back not to spy on some struggling corporation."

"Good luck with that?"

When he first came to Asset where Alex works, Alex ignores him, but he kept on coming. His presence on Asset creates some buzz around. The owner of Asset talks to him and threatens him to stop.

But Ace is persistent.

"I'm here to talk to my wife not to spy on you."

"You don't have a wife here. Miss Santos is your ex-wife."

But that didn't stop Ace. He stops going to her workplace, but he didn't stop courting Alex, he sends her flowers, poems, love notes at her work and home. He also serenades her at her parent's home with their song "everything I own", and he courted Alex's parents as well.

But Alex is so tough.

"Don't give up Ace" that's what he always told to himself.

Until his patience bear fruit, Alex decides to meet with him.

DINNER: (no, romantic dinner at the penthouse.)

"I really appreciate you came Alex."

"I only came to tell you this is the last time I'm going to talk to you." Alex is so cold. "If you don't stop, I will charge you Ace. I will tell the authority what you did to me two years ago. Why we were married and how we were married."

"You won't do that." Ace smiled uncomfortably "That's a long shot, everybody knows the story, and they won't believe you Alex."

"They know some part of the story Ace, not all of it. Don't try me Mr. Ace Merrill, after all what happened, after all what I've been through I am not afraid of you anymore. It's either you stop or I will ruin you."

"Can you just listen to me first?"

Alex looks at Ace, she occupy the chair on the table. Ace sat down in front of her. There was silenced.

Alex took a deep breath "I'm listening" She said impatiently.

"I want to apologize for what I have done to you Alex, if you will give me another chance I promised you I'll spend the rest of my life making you glad that you did."

Alex rise up from her chair, she look straight at Ace.

"Like I said, this will be the last time we will see each other Ace or I will make this thing public." There's a threat on Alex's voice.

Then she left without saying another word.

No dinner, no romantic dinner. NONE!

Ace left alone shocked, he remained thinking if Alex is serious about her threat, and he realized he needs to give up on her. Alex doesn't want him anymore he should let her go. If she does what she said she's going to do every paper in the country will publicized everything.

And he doesn't want that to happen. It's not the public that he cared...its Alex, he cared so much about her, the news would ruin him but it will also ruin Alex and he can't let that happen.

He ruined Alex enough, if letting her go would make her happy, so be it. Even if it means death, he would be very glad to die just to make Alex happy.

And that's what he would do, KILL HIMSELF!

Ace made his self really drunk that evening. He thought of Alex, every shot of Jack Daniels, those memories of Alex lingers, every shot brought happiness, until he have his last shot, the last shot that brought back all the pain.

"I love you Alex, I love you with all my heart" He said.

He went to his car and drove. He' suicidal and he succeeded; a six wheeler truck hit his car on the highway.

"Goodbye Alex" Ace closed his eyes as he saw Alex face smiling at him.
