Chapter 24 (Meeting Ace....AGAIN!)

Alex came home from work, she's exhausted for she took two shifts because she needed the money badly. Her payment for the rent of her room has been delayed cause she was sick for two weeks and the owner of the grocery employed a new one to take her place because Alex didn't notify the store. Alex begged the owner of the grocery store to take her back and she's lucky her employer pitied her that she had her job back.

She has money but it's in her account. If she closed her account in branch 1 it would raise questions and she can't face anyone from the bank she used to work especially Tracy. She can ask money from her parents but she chose not to.

After she packed her things she went straight to Nevada, she doesn't know why? all she knew was she wanted to get out of California. Far away from Ace, Nevada is really not that far but at least it's not California.

She rented a cheap motel, that's the only place her money can afford. She spends so much with her new identity but before she would emptied her pocket she found a job near at her place.

She lost a lot of weight, her long blond hair is now short and red and she doesn't wear makeup. There's no glow in her face anymore and loose those sparks in her eyes. She's now far more worst when Ace kidnapped and imprisoned her at the island. At least before there was hope, hope that one day Ace would set her free.

And after that day happened when she finally had her freedom, she felt empty. There are no hopes, or happiness, after she lost her baby and Ace there are no reasons for her to live.

She put her key to the door, when she entered her unit she heard a familiar voice.

"What happened to you Alex?"

It was Ace, is she hallucinating? She never had the chance to get a sleep last night.

"I'm not talking to you." Alex said as she walks to her bed. "You're just a figment of my imagination." She lay down and closed her eyes.

"Look at me Alex!"

She ignored the voice. She rise up from the bed and went to the bathroom.

She heard the knock on her bathroom door, it was a persistent knock.

"I will give you the rent Mrs. Galvez, just a moment!" Alex screamed from the bathroom because she thought it was the owner who is knocking.

"I am not Mrs. Galvez, it's me Alex, OPEN THE DOOR!."

When Alex heard that tone, the kind of tone Ace used when he's annoyed Alex felt a certain joy."It was him, really?"She opened the door, Ace is really there. His face is a little thin and there's a grown beard and mustache around his face but it's him.

Alex hug him, then she look at his face and gently caresses his face. She's crying.

"Are you for real, is it really you?"

"Yes Alex, it's really me."

Ace guide her in the bed, they sat there while Ace wiped the tears on her face.

"My God Alex, what did you do to yourself?"

"I'm fine" Alex smiled "What are you doing here? how did you find me?"

"It doesn't matter, we are going home."

"But isn't our divorce finally settled? What do you mean we are going home?"

"You owned that house Alex and the money, you deserved it. I will continue to support you. You can have your job back if you wanted too or I can give you your own business...just..."

Ace stop, he saw that angry look from Alex's eyes again.

"Unbelievable" Alex scoffs "Un......believable, you came here... gave me a worried face, telling me we are going home and then...Damn you Ace!"

"Alex please I can't let you live here, how can you live in this garbage?"

"I don't care what you think Ace. I don't need your charity."

"It's not charity Alex, listen to me..."

"No, I will not listen to you Ace, I am not coming with you, I hate you!"

"Oh, so you'd rather live in this misery than to have your life back all because of what? Because you hate me!"

"What life Ace? You took that life and I don't need your pity, I don't need you in my life anymore!"

"Alex...

"Get out Ace, GET OUT!"

Ace left.

Alex burst into tears after Ace closed the door behind him.

Ace stayed outside, he can hear Alex weeping. He felt that his heart is literally torn into pieces. He rested his forehead on the door and touched the door slightly as if it was Alex.

"Oh Alex, why do have to be so stubborn?" Then his eyes turned misty before he can burst into tears Ace left the building.
