"The only reason I'm angry with you now is because you were barely alive when I found you in the hospital wing!" Elena exclaimed. "Otherwise, believe me, Marietta would not have been the only one bleeding that day!"

Draco scoffed, nostrils flared. "I don't need your pity-"

"Since when have I ever pitied you?" Elena yelled, nearly spitting at his shoes. "I wanted to make sure you were alive before I tried to murder you for fighting Fred."

He shook his head, marveled at her. "You cannot be serious."

"You hurt Fred and don't you understand the consequences of what you've done?"

Draco didn't care, he didn't care about a single damned thing. The anger clouded his judgement, his knowledge. There were no consequences, none he knew of. There was only anger, time and time again. When it came to Elena's involvement with Fred, it was all he knew.

Elena had sat with Draco for the entire day after she found him in the hospital wing. She spoke to him quietly, going over every single thing she could think of, and helped make fun of Marietta with him. Even stayed and glared at the others when they came to visit Draco after classes.

Theo, Blaise, Pansy and Daphne had come to visit Draco and they left after only a few minutes when Elena and Pansy nearly threw themselves at each other.

Blaise had secretly brought in Pride and Prejudice from Draco's dorm for Elena to read and slid it towards her but the gesture went forgotten the moment Elena and Pansy started fighting again.

Draco had sat back and let Elena throw surprisingly creative insults at Pansy while Pansy was held back by a very reluctant Daphne.

It was no secret Daphne was the nicest and perhaps purest of the entire group, she was too alike to Elena. And more importantly, it was no secret that Pansy hated that kind of kindness within anyone. It explained why Elena was deeply loathed by Pansy.

Though Daphne, she had no true reason to hate Elena. And she didn't.

But the circle was confusing enough as it is.

To sum it up, Elena connected the lines in her head.

Pansy hated Elena for whatever unexplainable reason, Elena hated Pansy in the same. Elena felt no disdain for Daphne and Daphne felt none for Elena.

But tension and hatred between Daphne and Pansy was something entirely different. Something driven by female instincts and could only be dissolved once it was finished.

Daphne was dating Theo and Pansy watched them with envy and disdain. Pansy had no idea why or what drove her to hate Daphne other than snogging Theo all the bloody time.

But even then, through hatred and envy and frustration, Daphne found a way to look past it all and hold back Pansy long enough to get her out of the hospital wing and avoid hurting Elena.

"What possible consequences are there?" Draco asked lowly, his eyes flickering.

Elena shook her head, glancing at the tree around them.

They were in the meadow and were supposed to be practicing charms but Fred had been in the Quidditch pitch, watching Gryffindor practice. He had given Elena and Draco a disgusted look and turned away.

Draco had been amused by the look, by all of the bruises on Fred's face. He had called out an insult to rub the sight of them in Fred's face but Elena had yanked Draco away, remembering all of the feelings she had suppressed in order to be attentive.
