Peter's arm fell off of Nia's shoulder as the two approached the cave that had skeletons of various creatures littered at the mouth of it.
"Well this seems horrible" Peter muttered looking at what used to be a living faun.
"Hey," Nia got the boys attention by taking his hand, "We got this......... or we're gunna die in there and no one will find our bodies"
"Again, your optimism amazes me"
The girl shrugged and skipped ahead dragging Peter along behind her.

The cave looked fairly normal on the outside but as they wandered farther down, the walls appeared to be covered by thick branches weaved together. Some vines thicker in other places and thinner in some. Under closer inspection, they were hiding a painting underneath.
"Look at this," Nia walked over to a patch of the wall revealing the art. With her dagger she cut away some branches to reveal the image.
With a horrified gasp she stepped away from the wall.
"Is it too late to go home now, a marriage doesn't seem that bad if you put it in perspective" the girl tried to laugh away her fear and held on to Peter who was still staring at the image before them.
The painting depicted a large creature, heavily resembling the devil, above thousands of humans crawling on top of each other to reach him. Some of the people on the lower and bottom half were shown to be killed in the process.
"Well this got dark very quick" Peter muttered leading Nia away from the wall, "It's just a scare tactic don't worry"
"Well it certainly works" the girl shivered and brought a ball of light to her hands then released it above them to guide their way.
Distant sounds of growling and crunching followed them, getting louder with every step deeper into the cave.
Peter wrapped his arm around the girl once again, but this time it was in a protective manner. Their hands remained on the hilt of their swords, ready in case anything tried to attack. Up until now nothing had given them any trouble and they were starting to get suspicious.
"Wow this is truly not fun or fresh" whispered Nia as she scanned the area
"Wait, what is that?" Peter pointed to a small plaque mounted on the wall.
Almost entirely covered in vines the two had managed to uncover it enough to read what was engraved.

Warning for all those who enter: be wary of where you step, for those below haven't been fed.

The two looked at the plaque then back to each other confused.
"What the Fuck?"
"What does that even mean?"
"Who's down below? This is so stupid"
"That was a waste of time let's just keep moving"
The two kept walking. It had been about three hours past nightfall and exhausted, the pair began to slow. Peter yawned, "Maybe we should take a break for a little bit" he said stretching
"oh thank god, I feel like... not good" Nia yawned sitting down and resting her back on the wall behind her. Peter rubbed his eyes and was about to sit as well. Suddenly two hands emerged from the ground and started pulling him down. The hands looked like rotting branches, black and covered in thorns and mold.
"Peter!" Nia yelled going to help him, but didn't get far due to something pulling her back. She looked down to see more hands grabbing at her and pulling her into the wall. She tried to summon her magic or any of her powers but it wasn't working.
Whatever it was, it was suppressing her magic and there was nothing either of them could do to save each other. She spotted her dagger just out of reach and tried to go for it, but the branches had an iron grip on her and she couldn't move at all. Both struggled to escape but with every increase in their effort, more and more hands appeared. All she could manage was one last desperate look towards Peter, she reached towards him but it was not enough. The final thing she saw was him disappearing under the floor while she was enveloped by the branches and her vision was blocked out.

Outside the world was quiet, not one creature outside the cave could hear a thing going on in there. Eerily silent, no one would know what horrors were down there. No one would know if someone was  down there screaming for help.

A/N: YIKES idk what happened there tbh got kinda dark real quick
