Author's Note: Hey loves! Welcome, I'm MahogonyApples. I hope you enjoy my story. It will be updating every week on Saturday until finished. I'm excited to be writing again, as I haven't for a while. I apologize if there are any grammatical errors, I'm a bit rusty lol. Please don't hold back on giving your opinions on my story, I take suggestions with pride. Also, I do not own any of the characters, this is just a fanfic! I should stop stalling you now huh? Have fun x

From the time you were 10, you had been working alongside your father in his cafe. Located on a small corner in the heart of your birthplace, New York City. Your father had named it 'Esta Cafe' after your mother who had passed when you were 9 after a long battle of colon cancer. The cafe wasn't largely popular, yet business flowed evenly throughout the day, keeping you busy.

Father had started teaching you to bake by the age of 5. It was his passion; sharing what he made with others. You had inherited this trait as you equally loved making delicious pastries and desserts for the people. Your mother loved your cookies the most however. You mastered cookies within the first hour of learning to make them. You remembered your mother's soft laughs as you fed her your treat.

Now you were 18. Working the cashier, putting in orders for deliveries of ingredients. Father baked in the kitchen while you greeted smiling customers, taking in the scents of the freshly baked dough.

"I'll take a krispy creme donut and a mint chocolate cookie for him." A female customer ordered, hands linked with her boyfriend.

Your cafe was a hotspot for young couples and occasionly older couples too. Your father had designed the Esta Cafe perfectly to appeal to the people, as he also had a degree in social interaction. He knew exactly what he wanted to see after inspecting many other cafes and their raving reviews.

Esta was mostly white with gold accents and a many variety of green plants, closing in on the cute, natural and minimalistic effect. More gold finishes lined the counters, edges of tables and chairs keeping the aesthetic. You loved the design more than anybody. After all, you did grow up with it for the past 4 years after it's remodel to attract new customers and crowds for new business.

Turning your body toward a pastry display you grabbed a krispy creme donut along with a mint chocolate cookie. You wrapped the items in thin, nearly see-through parchment paper to protect them from the slight damage of being carried. You gracefully put the order into a small brown bag that labeled 'Esta Cafe.' The customer paid and you handed over the treats to the woman, smiling.

The couple left, you watched them carefully as they giggled together, arm in arm walking past the window at which you were staring at them through. Your eyes followed them and they were gone.

Now you you realised there were emerald green eyes staring back at you. Your body jumped a little bit at this. The eyes had been peeking right over the window so it could see you. Ears perked up as it saw you examining it.

You sighed, "It's just the cat Y/N.. no need to be a scaredy cat." You paused, "No pun intened.." You giggled to yourself. Haha.. yeah I'm stupid you told yourself with the dumbest smile.

Again you noticed the cat still watching you. It was pitch black, blacker than the night if that was even possible. A matching black nose accompanied large green eyes. The cat never had a collar so you assumed it was a stray. It had showed up about a week ago, though never begged for food or water, never pawed at the window to be let in, never invited strangers to pet it. The cat was seriously mysterious. A lot of people didn't believe in or didn't like black cats for the fear of having bad luck as black cats brought terrible luck and mischief. Though if anything the cat attracted more customers, and you didn't mind it either.

Today however, you had the strong urge to pet it. You took a short 10 minute break while father filled in for you. Him and you did this often so he didn't mind taking over for awhile. You still wore your cute white apron (atleast you told yourself it was cute) and stepped outside, facing the black cat. It sat there on the cafes window and watched you. Not moving, not blinking, not doing anything. Slowly lifting your hand towards the cat, inviting it to smell your hand. Still didn't budge. "Same bro.." you told the cat after it refused to engage with you.

"Maybe you need a name?" You asked. Thinking over the possible names you could give this cat. Trying to fit the name with its appearance. You thought about the Avengers who were super heros and saved the city. Then it came to you, you had no idea what gender the cat was. Before it could hiss you reached under it's tummy and felt for nipples. No nipples you thought pulling your hand back out at lightning speed. The cat glared at you and scooted farther from you. You laughed at how human-like he was.

You thought over the villains the Avengers fought. You remembered names of the rulers of the 9 realms you read about in Norse mytholodgy. "Laufey!" you decided turning again towards the cat. It stiffened suddenly and ran off somewhere.

"Guess that's a no.." You shrugged walking back into the warm cafe.
