Nat helped you put everything away in your closet. Your closet was way fuller then when you had arrived, it still wasn't full, though that was okay. You had room to get more clothes if you wanted, but you were content with the ones you had at the moment.

"Y/N." Nat called your name, hanging up the last of your dresses.

"Yes Nat?"

"Your assessments will be tomorrow."

"My assessments?" Your head shot up quickly. Since when did you have to take assessments?

"We need to know the extent of your abilities, Y/N." Natasha explained, "And once we know your powers we can begin training to help you reach maximum strength."

"I don't even know how to use my abilities."

"Which is why we're going to help you." Nat nodded.

You and Nat were in the hallway now.

"Alright, so how are you going to help me if I can't help myself?" Your eyebrows furrowed, a slight frown appeared on your face. Nobody here had the powers you did, except for maybe Loki however, he couldn't use his magic. If nobody knew how your powers worked then how could they possibly help?

"Well- we can try our best." Nat countered,

"Trying isn't good enough. It's either we do this correctly or we don't at all. I might hurt somebody or kill myself 'trying'." You raised your voice slightly,

I stepped out of the elevator. Thor was so annoying to be around, all I wanted was to read and he couldn't even let me do that. I was trying to retreat to my room but my body froze behind a corner.

I could hear a soft argument from the hallway. Romanoff and Y/N were bickering about something.

"Alright, how are you going to help me if I can't help myself?" Y/N raised her voice. She was talking about her powers. "We can try our best." Romanoff suggested. I scoffed silently to myself. Midgardians had no idea how dangerous young powers were. If Y/N was made to use her abilities something was going to go terribly wrong. Y/N needed to learn how to control her powers first before she could learn how to use them. It intrigued me. The fact that a Midgardian girl had Asgardian magic.

A plan formed in my head. It wasn't a good idea. It seemed like I've been having a bad idea streak lately though, so this wouldn't be the worst. Besides, what could possibly go wrong?

I trudged out from behind the corner revealing myself.

"Were you eavesdr-" Romanoff started her eyes moved to look at me, I cut her off before she could finish. "Perhaps I could teach her to control her abilities before her little assessments." The words flowed out of my mouth as I watched the two ladies. Y/N's mouth dropped open at my offer. There. I proposed the idea, but now they needed a reason to accept it. "Besides, she does have Asgardian magic after all."

"Your magic is Asgardian?" Lava girl's face twisted into a frown as she turned towards Y/N. "Loki said I did.. I guess it just slipped my mind." Y/N shrugged. "Slipped your mind? Y/N, you were told that you had magical abilities from a whole different world and you didn't think to tell us anything?" "I didn't want to be a pest." She bowed her head ready to be yelled at.

I could see her more clearly now. She had light blue eyes and light brown hair. She was tall for a Midgardian girl, most I've seen were almost a foot shorter than I was.

Romanoff sighed and faced me again. Her stern face matched mine. "I'll talk it over with the team. No guarantees."

I nodded in agreement. That was the best I could accept at the moment.

Y/N's POV

"So you really want to teach me?" You smirked, questioning Loki as Nat passed him storming into the elevator.

"Not really." He told you. "Then why offer?" You countered.

"Because Midgardians are dim and can't tell a good idea from a bad one. I only offered because I too, have Asgardian magic and have been using it since I was 6."

You made your face blank from expression. A small flame of hatred burned inside you. "They are not dim." Loki had used the term Midgardians, but you knew he meant the Avengers. You pushed him slightly out of the way so you could pass through. You stopped at the elevator, feeling his hard glare on you again. "And stop staring. It's rude." You smiled sarcastically and entered the lift.

*

You were curled up on your usual spot on the sofa. You had claimed the corner as yours. You were finally finishing 'The Great Gatsby.' You had a small cup of coffee on the side table next to you. The team were all on another floor somewhere probably discussing Loki's offer to train you. You couldn't believe the audacity of that man. He had offered to teach you then the next moment he insulted you like you weren't in front of him. Even though you had many experiences with rude people, from having to deal with Karen's at Esta to forcing your male history teacher to let you use the bathroom because you suddenly went on your period. Loki's insult felt worse than being mean. And the fact he had said it so plainly as well. 'I shouldn't be getting upset though' you thought to yourself. Maybe he just hated people? Maybe he hated you? That would explain a lot. The glaring, ignoring you.

You pushed the thought out of your mind as everyone crowded out of the elevator. Thor was holding Loki as they made their way over to the living room. "Hey everybody" You greeted them as they sat around the sofas. Loki took his seat from across you as always.

"Hey kid." Tony returned the salutation.

"Y/N." Cap acknowledged you firmly. "Captain" Putting your book down your head titled up towards the team who now were all staring at you.

"Loki had offered to train you, he claims you have Asgardian magic and only he can teach you to use those abilities." Cap peered over at Loki then back at you. "Mhm.." You sounded knowingly.

"After a long argument from either sides we have made an agreement. You and him will train every day until you're confident in your abilities. We'll switch his restraints so he can use his powers only relevant to what you're learning."

You were surprised that cap had even considered. You caught Tony's eye. He was annoyed with the compromise but he stayed quiet. Thor must've said something to get them all to agree to it. He had a way of getting his brother out of weird situations unless it was something horrific.

"So what do you think Y/N, are you up for it?" Steve searched your face for any signs of agreement. Nevertheless you kept a straight face. You had reached master skill in how to control your face expressions. "Sure." You stated shortly. Loki looked up at you with a hint of relief in his features.

Getting up from your cozy spot, setting your book on the table which had been closed in your grasp the whole time. "Now, If you'll excuse me I have somewhere to be." You declared. You wanted to get away from their many eyes. "Kid- wait-" You heard Tony's voice cut off, you turned around, but the view had changed. Now you were in the garage. Did you just teleport? You stood there, shell-shocked. Was this part of your abilities?

You lined everything up. A few days ago, you were about to run over Thor with your car. Before the bubble appeared you felt a rush of fear. When you switched off the TV without using the remote you hadn't wanted to hear it anymore. You were anxious. And just now, before you teleported to the garage you were feeling sick from everybody watching you so closely. Perhaps.. your magic was protecting you from feeling emotions you didn't like. Your magic had helped you exit a situation you were uncomfortable in.

It dawned on you.

You didn't control your magic. It controlled you.
