Taking delicate steps down the hall, Odin sat plump and high on his throne. He wasn't as mighty or cool as Thor had made him out to be. In fact, he really was more dull than anything.
Loki clenched his jaw to look at him. Eyes locking with Odin, he smiles and put down a staff he had been holding in his arm.
"A very fragile concern had been brought to my attention." Odin started.
Already, you were uninterested. Though you kept posture and dignity, for he was the Allfather, after all.
"Earlier you had been diagnosed and cured of Nergal," Odin frowned, raising an eyebrow, "As you may know, only Asgardians can contract Nergal sickness."
As he spoke, you could feel your heart start beating faster for some reason. It felt like it would leap right out of your chest.
Nerves started again, it got your blood pressure rising. You looked to Loki to see if he was alright. Of course he looked like he didn't want to be there, neither did you, though he still had underlying anxiety as well.
"Y/n, pronounce your last name." Odin ordered next. "Y/l/n." You replied dryly.
He froze, then. Not in a good way it seemed. The allfather looked like he'd seen a ghost. So much so, even Loki was getting worried about him, as he was now squinting.
"Y/l/n." Odin repeated, taking an abnormally long, deep breath.
"Yes, your highness." You nodded hastily.
He nodded slowly, processing. Processing what? You weren't sure of exactly. Yet you still could come up with an idea.
Truly hoping it wasn't what you were thinking, you held out hope. Not much, but hope.
"I see." Odin looked to his side where Frigga sat quietly, taking in the investigation.
She whispered something to him, inaudible to everyone else then nodded when he returned his answer.
"Your mother..," Odin played with his long grey beard, "What was her name?"
"Mm.. Tyrja Y/l/n." Answering hesitantly, you tried to focus on Frigga. She furrowed her eyebrows in a concerned mannerism. Something was off. Very off. And you had a feeling you were about to find out what exactly.
"Tyrja." Odin watched you sternly. You picked at your nails, trying to relieve some anxiety.
"I knew your mother.. yes.." His eyebrows were lowered sternly and he was stiff in his throne. Frigga, on the other hand, returned back to her original state, as though she expected this.
Snapping back to reality, you rethought what he just expressed.
"You.. knew my mother?" You furrowed your eyebrows. How could Odin have known your mother? 'That's impossible!' You thought.
Odin was silent for a moment, your mind started going crazy. He couldn't just stop there, you needed answers.
Using your mother's maiden name he said, "Tyrja Yon, was banished from Asgard for practicing wiytch craft against the dark elves.."
Loki's mouth gaped open out of shock. A painful feeling exploded in your chest. It felt as if your heart just cracked open. Tears started to swell in your eyes, wiping them away quickly and roughly.
"N-no.. she couldn't have.. she was one of us, my mother.. she.." You painfully held back tears. Though something deep down inside you told you that you already know this.
Not her being banished, but her being Asgardian.
"I am sorry child." Odin furrowed his bushy, grey eyebrows. Tears fell down your cheek, unable to control them anymore.
Loki rushed to your side, taking you into his hefty embrace. "Wait- I'm.." Stuttering, you hicupped.
"You are indeed Asgardian." Odin finished sternly. He watched as you wept in Loki's arms. Odin rolled his eyes and whispered something again to Frigga.
Frigga looked empathetic for you. Moving from her position by the Throne, she steadied herself down the large steps down to you. She laid her hand on Loki's shoulder, making him look up at her.
You clutched hard to him though, you wouldn't let them take him from you. Oh, never would you let that happen.
"Loki.." Frigga started, "Don't mother." Loki spoke firmly, startling Frigga. She nodded, taking a small step back. Loki kept you by his chest.
A few more minutes passed and you were able to wipe away your tears long enough to face Odin again. Loki didn't budge from his spot next to you though. He kept his eyes focused on you.
"What has become of your mother, child?" Odin asked curiously. You'd rather him not call you a child, though you couldn't reject.
"She's dead." You said flatly.
"Oh." Odin glanced at Frigga then back at you. "And.. how did Tyrja die?"
"Cancer." You answered, "Or at least.. that's what I was told." Gulping, you picked at your finger nails nervously.
"Hm." Odin nodded. "You may go children." He suddenly dismissed you. Loki was taken aback, but he would never miss a chance to get away from him. Loki clutched your hand gently, pulling you out of the throne room.
Frigga watched with sad, lonely eyes as the two of you walked off
"I'm so sorry, Y/n." Loki took a deep sigh. You shook your head silently. "I need to sit down.." You groaned, sensing a headache approaching.
"Of course, darling." Loki nodded and immediately took you over to a stone bench set up between some pillars.
Setting your heavy, dreary head on his shoulder, a single tear raced down your cheek leaving behind a wet trail.
Your eyes were puffy and dull. Now you didn't feel like yourself. Your skin had become blemished and rough over the last few days. Quite the contrary from before.
You longed to be home again. Sleeping in your own bed, Loki by your side. Taking care of yourself, eating all you want and being with your friends back home.
The team had moved by now, you thought. "I wonder how the new building is.." You sniffled, wiping your runny nose.
"I'm sure it's beautiful." Loki assured you, "Come along darling. We'll get you settled, you may have some time to yourself." He helped you up from the bench and took you back to your room.
Once you reached your chambers, Loki made the bed cozy and ready for you. You thanked him and got in. He had a couple of errands to run so you could relax peacefully while he was out on the town.
"Rest, darling." Loki had whispered to you before he left. "I will, have fun out." You had replied back with a weak smile. And with that, he left, closing the large oaken door behind him.
You sighed, a million thoughts running through your mind. There was no way you could sleep with all this worry, it just simply wasn't possible for you.
Groaning, you slouched down in bed, wishing Loki was there to keep you warm. You weren't to be clingy though. Loki needed some space once in awhile, you were happy for him.
"I wish I had a good book with me." You murmured, engulfing yourself with more sleek blankets and gold pillows.
Swallowing hard, you thought back to that experience just now. "I'm... Asgardian." You choked. 'How could I be.. mother never mentioned anything about being from an entire different realm.' You complained to yourself.
"Never mentioned anything." Sighing out loud, you blinked tiredly. "I wonder if father knew." You wondered. And with a single answer came a million more questions.
"Augh. I'm too tired for this." You dug deeper into the bed. "Too.. tired."
