"Should I count?" He asked, positioning the knife into a throwing motion. "Ugh! No just throw it." You complained.
That same unnerving feeling washed over you. That same sense of danger. "OK okay.." Loki said quietly.
There was a pause of silence. Your insides twisted and turned as time passed. Suddenly the large butcher knife came flying at your head. You couldn't see it but you could most certainly feel it. You swiftly turned around and caught the knife handle.
Taking it down from your face you turned to look at Loki who was wide-eyed. "You felt it, didn't you?"
"I did." You nodded.
"How do you suppose I got this danger sensing ability thing?" You asked, stepping up to him. He looked down at you. His eyes greener and curiouser as ever.
"I believe it has something to do with your trauma. You've gone through so much your body has developed a 6th sense for danger." Loki said oddly enthusiastically. "You think it's because of my trauma?" You repeated.
"Yes, I do. That's my only idea, and it also makes sense." He shrugged. "You're very smart you know."
"I know." Loki grinned. You glared at him. "I mean.. thank you" He muttered under his breath.
"I think you need to practice taking compliments better Loki." You frowned playfully.
"I don't get compliments often. I never know what to say when I do get complimented." He said pitifully.
"Just say thank you."
Loki smiled. Which, made you smile. And you stayed like that for a awhile. Looking into eachother's eyes as workers moved about with heavy lifting equipment. Your cheeks started to red as Loki's gaze fixated on yours.
"Well!" You broke the silence, startling him. "I'm going to my room."
Loki just watched as you walked away. You kinda felt bad just leaving him there.
"Can I come with you?" He called
You paused. "You want to come with me to my room?"
"Yes."
"Ok c'mon." You motioned to him.
He smiled and walked with you.
-
"I win again!" You jumped up from your spot on the floor. Loki rolled his eyes. "You're very good at this." He noted looking up at the Mario kart game on the TV
"It takes practice. You're doing good for a beginner." You pat his head. His head spun around to see you.
"Am I?"
"You are!" You sat down next to him again, controller in hand. "Hm" he hummed.
"The 4th of July is tomorrow!" You grinned. "What's that?" He looked at you confused.
"On the 4th day of July is independence day. Aka America's birthday."
"Why does a piece of land need a birthday?" He squinted at you.
You froze for a moment thinking. "Well its not necessarily a birthday. We're just celebrating the signing of the declaration of independence."
"I remember reading about something like that in my midgardian book." Said Loki.
"Good! I'll explain it more later, but basically on the 4th of July we have these huge celebrations with tons of food and fireworks shows."
"Fireworks?" Loki furrowed his brow.
