(earlier than I said, rest will be out by the end of the week)

-Chapter 2_Part 1-

When he awoke, Akemi was not in his room. Nor was he in the room he had fallen asleep in.

The room was split down the middle, like all of the dorms. One side was decorated with old-school Nintendo and gaming accessories. The other half was grungy but scientific. For such an important feeling environment, it sure seemed like it should have been more sterile.

Akemi sat up, noticing the hazard sign on the ceiling. He rubbed his eyes. His face felt sticky, and his whole body felt exhausted. It took him a moment, but it eventually came back to him. The events of the day prior.

He would've cried again if had tears left to spare.

"Oh. You're up," The door creaked open on the grungy side of the room, revealing Orochi. Akemi forced a smile.

"Hi," He croaked out, his voice hoarse, "How'd I get up here?" Orochi averted his eyes.

"I uh, I carried you up here after you passed out on the trial grounds," Orochi replied. He ran a hand through his dark green mullet awkwardly, "D-Don't take that as if I care about you or anything! I just didn't wanna step on you in the morning or some shit..." He walked over to a tank on the other side of the room, pulling something out of a small mini-freezer. Akemi smiled again, this time genuinely.

"Right... Well, thank you anyway. So, this is your dorm, huh? Oh, shoot who's bed did I take--"

"Anon's." The toxicologist didn't turn around.

"Oh..." Akemi's stomach dropped. Oh my god, I slept in a dead girl's bed... Instead of thinking about that, the engineer tried to make conversation. Just leaving the room seemed rude, and not talking would be a thousand times worse. Akemi cleared his throat, "So... What're you doing?"

Orochi's mood seemed to improve instantly. He picked something up out of the tank and brought it over to the bed.

"Feeding Aya," The tall boy said. He pulled down his mask and held the snake out, presumably for Akemi to pet. Akemi hesitantly put a hand out and lightly stroked the snake.

"I didn't know we were allowed to have pets," He said. Orochi didn't really acknowledge that the engineer had commented, "She seems nice though," He smiled as Aya nuzzled her white head into his hands.

"She's not a pet, she's my companion. And not usually, she doesn't typically like anyone... other than me of course," Orochi said proudly. Akemi tensed up, causing a chuckle from the toxicologist.

"Don't worry, she clearly likes you."

After a very relaxing ten minutes petting the python, Orochi picked her back up and put her away.

"Alright, c'mon. We should get to breakfast," he said. Akemi raised a brow.

"Breakfast?"
