-Chapter 2_Part 5-

RIIIIIIIIIIIISE AND SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE! One more day to get a' killlin' to keep your sensitives to yourselves!

Akemi sat up in bed, feeling his back crack. He yawned and flopped back down to come to terms with existing before he got up and dressed.

Once in the cafeteria, Akemi smiled.

At the long table sat the early risers. Koto and Sayori were directly next to each other, both red in the face. Osoro and Hashido were nearby, Osoro looked pained to be speaking to the tiny teen.

Down the table, Taro was dozing off on Yutio's shoulder. The small teen in question was paying it no mind, munching on Osoro's Sayori-Approved pancakes(topped with sprinkles and crushed up rock candy) rather than their hands.

Orochi and Daichi were far earlier than normal, sitting across from each other and avoiding eye contact, yet occasionally glancing at each other.

Meanwhile, Touro sat at the far head of the table, writing in his notebook nervously.

And Ahaki sat at her own table, still praying over nothing.

Akemi decided to take his chances with her.

"Morning Ahaki," He greeted cheerfully. Ahaki took a moment to look up, flashing a brilliant smile.

"How may I help you this fine morning, Akemi dear?" She said back. Akemi smiled in return, albeit nervously.

"I was gonna grab some food, want me to bring you some?" He asked politely. Ahaki paused, but then shook her head lightly.

"No thank you, I'm fasting currently," She explained, "You can join me if you'd like," Akemi shook his head.

"Oh, no thanks," He said, "I don't do religious stuff," Ahaki pouted a little.

"Well if you ever decide to repent, the Lord's arms are open to most," She said. Akemi held in a cringe. Repent...

"You mean all, right?" He asked, unsure. Ahaki's eyes flicked to the end of the long table but quickly trained back on Akemi.

"Sure, darling,"

Akemi nodded and took a seat near Osoro. She looked at him with pleading eyes as if telling him to run while he still could.

"Heeeeeeeeeeeeeey Amnesia-kemi~!" Hashido greeted. Akemi felt a stab of guilt in his chest.

"Hey! Hashido that was uncalled for!" Osoro swatted the small kid on the head. They just giggled and swatted her right back.

"But that's his nickname!" Hashido grinned, wide and scary. A shadow crept over his pale face, "Just cause Luci's dead, doesn't mean that the nickname has to die with her~"

Akemi gripped his sleeves tightly, fighting back tears. Osoro put a thin hand on his back and glared at Hashido.

"That's so terrible of you! Look at him, he's hurt! How could you do that?" She scolded. Across the table, Taro blinked awake, looking panicked. He glanced around and took a breath, beginning to talk to Yutio. Hashido's crazy eyes left, and his face dropped.

"Eh, this is boringggggggg," They said. The small teen then left, not even twirling their umbrella. Osoro sighed and turned to Akemi, who wiped his eyes before she could see.

"Are you okay, Akemi?" She asked. Akemi nodded.

"Yeah, don't worry about it," He lied. Osoro smiled sadly, as though she knew.

"If you say so,"

The only two who never showed for breakfast were Tatsuya and Usagi. After a short meal, everybody went their separate ways. Akemi decided to explore the school on his own, just to clear his head.
