Chapter 4_Part 1

In the morning, Akemi woke to find a piece of paper on a string hanging around his neck. He sat up groggily, rubbing the sleep from his tired, lilac eyes. The boy realized just a few things at that moment:

He never changed clothes last night, merely coming back to his dorm and falling asleep due to exhaustion. This paper must be part of the new motive or the end of the last one. When I go to the cafeteria, there will only be nine people left.

Akemi's head fell into his hands. He sat like that for a while, curled up on his previously shared bed. The engineer shed no tears, but rather just thought. Eventually, he read the paper.

'Take your pick! You may take anything that has an olive green dot sticker, make sure you keep it with you all day! - Monokuma'

"Take?" Akemi questioned aloud. He looked around, finding there were green dots on a few of Luci's more prominent things. Suddenly, Akemi realized. He was to take something of Luci's because it was her name he had written down.

Akemi took a deep breath and stood from the mattress, walking over to Luci's side of the room. He gazed at all the objects around, wondering what he could possibly decide upon.

Eventually, his choice was made.

"Oi, Akemi," Orochi called the smaller boy over when he saw him enter. Akemi waved and sat by the toxicologist and Daichi.

"What's up Orochi?" He asked. Daichi began explaining their situation.

"So, imagine you have the ability to spy on this really hot chick while she's in the bath, right? You watch her for a while, and way later on you find out that she's actually your long-lost mother that everyone thought was dead!"

"So," Orochi continued, "Would that be considered immoral, or even gross?" Akemi looked at them with a questioning expression. Then, he genuinely thought about it.

"Um... Yeah probably. Also kind of embarrassing when you realize that's your mom, right?"

"See! I told you!" Daichi exclaimed. Orochi glared.

"But he didn't know!" Orochi fired back. Daichi (probably) stuck her tongue out at him.

"...Glad I could help," Akemi said, getting up and heading to the actual kitchen, which was just on the far side of the cafeteria. He grabbed a bagel and saw Taro and Yutio, deciding to sit with them rather than the very depressed-looking Touro, the still quiet Koto, Haru(who was still dressed like Osoro), or the arguing couple.

"G-g-good m-morning, Akemi," Yutio greeted him as he sat. Akemi waved.

"Hey, Yutio,"

"Hm?" Taro blinked himself awake, seeing the engineer had just sat down, "Oh, mornin' Akemi. Nice beanie," Akemi smiled and touched the white beanie, pulling it more secure to his head.

"Morning, Taro. It is nice, isn't it..." Nice like her.

"I take it that's the thing you chose to take?" Taro asked, "I mean, assuming you wrote her name," Akemi was a bit startled by the question but answered nonetheless.

"Yeah, what about you two? You both got it right, didn't you?" He asked back. Yutio nodded, which made Akemi notice theirs. They had a hair clip pulling aside part of their bangs, and exposing their blue eye. It was star-shaped and featured the pan flag.

Taro noticed Akemi's...well, noticing and pointed to his own beanie, which now had a flower clipped to the side. Akemi nodded in understanding.

"I'm actually kind of curious who everyone else who got it right chose," Taro said. Yutio piped up.

"Th-that's easy," They said, "D-D-Daichi is w-wearing a p-pocket chain, the one m-missing f-f-from Orochi's l-l-left side. A-and, K-Koto was one o-of the f-f-first to sh-show, b-b-b-but he's h-holding an umbrella u-under the t-table,"

"Wow, that's pretty observant, Yutio," Akemi said. Yutio smiled a little, showing off their razor-sharp teeth.

"Th-thanks..."

"Is that just the motive?" Taro questioned, "Someone took your thingy, kill them?" Akemi shrugged.

"Guess so," He said, "That or we wait for Monokuma to show,"

"Waiting it is then," Taro replied, stealing a piece of Akemi's bagel.

But Monokuma never showed.
