"Toni, oi Toni. I know you hear me!" called my best friend in the whole entire world, Fred Weasley, rushing into my train compartment before I could close the door.
"Yeah. I'm sorry, but you of all people should know I'm not in the mood to talk to anyone. Even you, believe it or not," I said, slightly annoyed, but trying to contain it and not lash out at him, for how I felt wasn't his fault.
"Well, I just don't believe it. You tell me anything and everything." He placed his hand on my arm right under my elbow. "Just tell me, it'll make you feel better."
I sighed, knowing he was right. "I guess I'm just scared my sister is going to be in Gryffindor with us- and then she's going to torture me way more than she already does at home. And I-"
"Stop. One, from all the stories you've told me about Spencer, she's definitely going to be in Ravenclaw with how stuck up she is. Two, if for some reason she does in fact end up in Gryffindor, don't forget you have not only me and George, but Oliver to help you out."
Oh shit, Oliver. I was hoping he would have forgotten about me over the summer. Fingers crossed he did.
"Right we will. So whatever happened between the two of you after you told him anyway?" George asked, entering.
"Honestly I'm not even sure. It was so weird, and he acted all nonchalant about everything, and-" I said, crossing my arms halfway through what I was saying.
"What?" Fred asked, confused.
"He acted like I never-" I started to explain before Fred cut me off again.
"No, not that. Nonchalant, what does that mean?"
I was caught off guard by him not knowing what that meant and I was not in the mood to explain it so instead I said, "Who cares? And besides, you're only asking about Oliver to get my mind off Spencer."
"Who's Spencer?" Our friend Rian Carter walked into the train compartment without either of us noticing, George was standing in front of her.
"Hi, Rian." I said in a fake chipper voice.
"Hi, Antonia," she replied, mimicking my tone back to me. "Now tell me who this Spencer guy is and if he's hot!"
"She, not he, and she's my little sister," I said bluntly, upset about her now being at Hogwarts as well.
"I don't understand why your parents couldn't have sent her to Beauxbatons or Ilvermorny, I mean they obviously aren't big fans of Dumbledore and the way he runs the school," was George's input into the conversation, finally walking in the compartment fully and not just standing by the door.
"Yeah, well the way they see it, if they send Spencer to the same school as me they can have her suck up to all my friends and teachers and leave me with nothing, as I will remind you that is their favourite hobby." I shook my head and looked down at my feet.
George knelt down right in front of me, grabbed my hands and said, "We're here for you, anything you need."
I was so grateful to have them as friends. Grateful that on my first train ride to Hogwarts, they, as well as their older brother, Charlie, sat in the compartment with me and cheered me up as I was crying, worried about my mother hating me now.
"Not only that but they don't really know other wizarding schools exist," Rian stated.
"My mum might, she doesn't tell me anything, though, so I wouldn't know regardless. Dad couldn't care less honestly."
My mother didn't want to be magical. After she graduated from Hogwarts, she went right back to the muggle world. She hid who she was from me, my dad, sister, everyone. She cried for days when I received my letter, but knowing she couldn't skip out on this opportunity for me, my mother took my to Diagon Alley the very next day. Also, my letter arriving two weeks before the start of term helped my circumstances, since my birthday was August 13, and my mother knew we needed to get all my school stuff soon. They knew Spencer would most likely be a witch too so it was no surprise when on the bright morning that was this last December 18, they were greeted by a brown envelope with emerald writing on it. They were more hesitant to send Spencer to Hogwarts, but were ultimately more excited in the end.
