I jolt awake at the sound of Artillery exploding in the distance and get up of the floor along with everyone else.
"Morta shells, it's not ours. Peacekeepers must be shellin the rebels outside the city" Gale says
"That's not outside the city" Cressida says and I put together some more arrows ready for when we leave
"Suns coming up there's some small arms fire. Could be Paylor, maybe Lyme. Rebels are close" Gale tells us as he sits down beside me
"This is it" Cressida says as we here the Fanfare playing on the tv and Snow appears
"To all Capitol citizens more than a half mile outside the City circle, I a, announcing a mandatory evacuation. Come to the mansion. I am promising you shelter and sanctuary. All refugees, come to my home and there you will be provided with food, medicine, safety for your children and you will have my solemn oath to protect my dying breath" Snow says
"I wish he would hurry up with that last part" I say to them
"Our enemy is not like us they do not share our values, they have never known our comfort and our sophistication. And they despise us for it make no mistakes. They are not coming to liberate us, they are coming to destroy our way of life, they are coming to bury us" Snow continues before he disappears and the tv goes blank
"is is he still in the mansion" I ask
"Yeah I recognise the room" Peeta answers me
"Where is that" I asks as I pull out a map of the Capitol
"About 5 blocks away. We are right of the avenues" Cressida tells me
"What about pods" I ask her
"they'll probably deactivate the pods around for the residents safety" Cressida explains
"That could work, I could get close enough" I mutter
"Every peacekeeper is going to be waiting" Gale tells me
"Next to our faces on every billboard" Cressida says
"Snows offering shelter to all the refugees" I say to her
We decided that me and Gale are going to go to Snows mansion and to make sure we aren't recognised Tigres is giving us some of her costumes for us to wear. I am wearing a red top, leather pants, bullet proof vet, my engagement ring, my mothers necklace a red hooded cloak and I have my arrows on my back.
"Head straight North there's going to be thousands of refugees just get into that stream and don't look up" Cressida tells me
"we got one shot" I tell Gale
"Let's make it count" Gale says
"Good luck Victoria" Cressida tells me and I give her a hug before pulling away and facing Pollux who mimes something before giving me a short hug
"Tigris thank you for everything you have done" I tell her
"Victoria let me come with you" Katniss says to me
"Me too, I can be a distraction they know my face" Peeta adds trying to persuade me
"No I'm not loosing you both" I tell them
"You will be safer with us" Cressida tells them
"What if peacekeepers are searching the houses? And if he's captured " Gale says
"Give me a night lock pill ok? I'm not going back there" Peeta says and Gale reluctantly hands his over to Peeta, I walk over to Katniss and give her a hug and I see a tear running down her cheek
"Don't cry you will see me again, I promise and you I don't break my promises" I tell her
"I know, good luck Vic" she says to me before I walk over to Peeta
"If I don't make it back then please look after Katniss for me" I tell him
"of course I will, good luck not that you will need it" Peeta says and he hugs me
"You ready Vic" Gale asks and I pull away from Peeta
"Let's go" I tell him as I put my hood up and place my bow under my cloak and we walk out of the store.
We walk close together through the avenue and an announcer speaks through a PA telling us to head to Snows mansion. We walk down the empty street before going right where loads of Capitol citizens are walking in a huge crowd, me and Gale walk over to them into the middle and walk with the crowd towards the mansion. As we walk, I feel a pair of eyes on me and I look up slightly to see a little girl watching me as her mother carries her forward, I'm almost sure that she recognises me. I keep my head down the rest of the way as we walk making sure not to be seen, as we see the mansion in front of us I see Peacekeepers in a line checking people who have hoods up so I grab Gale's arm and we walk the opposite way to the crowd until there are Peacekeepers walking in our direction so we turn around again and walk with the crowd. We near the Peacekeepers in front and I try to think of a way out of getting caught as I see Gale remove his gun from his pocket.
I suddenly feel a hand on my shoulder but suddenly an explosion goes of causing us to duck down as the building beside falls down. I look to my right and I see the rebels with guns shooting at the Peacekeepers so me and Gale run towards the direction of the mansion and over to a metal wall and duck down behind it as the shooting continues. Gale grabs a gun from the dead Peacekeeper beside us and we run towards the mansion dodging guns and explosions, we hide in front of the parked truck when it suddenly goes up in flames causing us to fall backwards either side.
i open my eyes and I see two Peacekeepers grabbing Gale and taking him towards a truck, I reach forward and grab my bow and aim it at them
"Shoot me! Shoot me!" Gale screams at me as the peacekeepers push him into the truck but I can't bring myself to do it so I lover my bow as another explosion goes off.
I but my bow under my cloak again and run over to the mansion and into the crowd of people waiting to get it, the adults pass their children to the front with the Peacekeepers. The citizens all shout and scream as they wait to be let into the mansion. I climb onto a parked truck so I can get a better view and I see children screaming and crying as they get given to Peacekeepers. I hear a noise from above and I see a hovercraft fly over my head but as it does, it drops little parachutes like in the games, they land where the gates are but they suddenly explode and I fall down of the truck.
As I open my eyes I see people running past me to the mansion and I hear screaming from injured people. I slowly stand up and I see some rebels rushing forward to help the injured and as I walk forward i notice an all to familiar face there.
"Prim" I shout and she looks over at me "PRIMROSE! PRIM" I shout as I walk closer to her when suddenly a flash of orange strikes and I feel myself loose consciousness.
