The Long Run

Sammy falls right into Janae's arms "Hey hey Sammy wake up!" Janae laid her down against her lap as Janae pushes her back on this big tree. "Sammy!" Janae cried out

"Does anybody know where any bandages are at?" Darius yells out. A lightbulb goes off in Janae's head, her mom packed an extra bag just in case "Darius, upstairs, there's a pinkish-purple bag near the counter, hurry!"

Darius listens to Janae as he sprints to the ladder. Janae felt Sammy's body getting hotter by the second "Quick, use a blanket or jacket we can use for her head" Ben ordered them. The campers followed suit, they had Janae tuck the blanket under Sammy's head so she can be at least comfortable

"Here Janae!" Darius quickly rushes up to her. In her bag contains basic medical stuff like NyQuil, that vapor rub, pills, thermometer, and stuff that can help your headaches and other body pains, she hoped something in here can help Sammy

"Those spikes inside of her are poisonous, we have to pull them out" Brooklyn kneels down to Sammy's side. Janae gets the bandages out quickly before Brooklyn pulled them out "Ok on my count"

"Sammy, this is going to hurt!" Three seconds later, Yaz yanks out the spikes of Sammy. Sammy screamed out in pain as Janae places the bandages on her, covering up the injuries. Janae watches as Sammy's eyes slowly closed and her head collapses on her lap

Sammy's skin started to turn greener by the second, she was still moving but not responsive "Sammy, hey. We're here with you, everything is going to be okay" Yaz started to tear up, holding Sammy's hand tight

Janae tried to make sure that Sammy was okay, she held both sides of her head out of comfort "You're going to be okay, Sammy" Janae whispered. "The quills weren't enough, she needs an antidote" Darius blurts out

"Yeah okay, antidote. That'll be easy to find considering no one even knew this thing existed" Kenji folded his arms together. "Kenji's right. The Scorpius Rex wasn't supposed to ever get out"

Suddenly, Brooklyn gasps "The video on Wu's old lab. He was attacked by the Scorpius and they were giving him this shot from a red vial. I think they said antidote, I'm not-"

Yaz shoots up from the ground, slightly scaring Janae "Where is this lab?" Brooklyn hands her a map straight from her jacket "Near the raptor paddock"

Janae saw a look in Yaz's eyes, it's that same look Janae had when she went to go save her sister, she's risking her life. "Take care of Sammy until I get back"

"Wait Yaz, the Scorpius went that way!"

"I don't care what's out there, I'm saving her" Yaz runs out of the campsite and into the jungle. "She's nuts, she can't outrun that thing"

"We have to figure out a way to help her somehow" Brooklyn's right, there's gotta be a way to help Yaz. "Okay let's think, what do we know so far about this dinosaur?"

"It's straight-up terrifying, it climbs, breaths like a pug with a cold and it moves weird"

"Janae, what are your thoughts?" Darius asks Janae. Inside, Janae is shaking in fear, it's the first time in her life that she feels genuinely afraid. She looks up from Sammy's face, she stared at the burnt up tree

"When we were getting attacked, lightning struck at that tree. It was like the Scorpius was mesmerized by it like it saw fire for the first time." 

"You're right. That's how we'll clear a path for Yaz, only our explosion will be better, bigger, louder, fiercer"

"I'm. I know the jungle better than anyone. Plus, bigger, louder, fiercer, those are all my favorite words. Try to keep up" Ben runs to the gate, waiting for Darius
