Turning Dr. Turner

The kids walked through the unknown tunnel, walking out of the desert completely. The door closes behind them. Janae had all the questions in the world, this place seems so tech-savvy, she thought

Suddenly, this big opening with a blue locked pad appeared. Looks like a way out. Brooklyn slides her index finger across the screen before the pad unlocks itself. The door opens to a jungle...things just got weird

"Okay um I'm pretty sure we were just in the desert" Janae is stressed out about the location. "What the heck is this place?" Sammy questions. All of a sudden, the ground shakes, trees start to rumble

"If I didn't no any better, I'd say that feels like a..." Sammy trailed off. A grey T. Rex peeks around the corner, ready to attack. "Not again!" Janae yells before taking off, running

The kids duck behind a tree or a rock to avoid the dinosaur and with just their luck, they did successfully but instead of one, now there's two T. Rexes but it doesn't look like they're paying attention to the kids

"Does every island have dinosaurs now?" Brooklyn yells. Ben gasps "Lets ask her" He points. "Who? The dinosaur?" Janae questioned. "No, her" He turned her around to see a middle aged woman, studying the dinosaurs with a tablet and a sandwich

"Who is that?" Kenji asks. The woman looked up confused when she heard voices, she dropped her sandwich in surprise when she saw them. "What are you doing here?" She came over but instantly covered up her tablet "Are you here to spy?"

"Really? That's your first thought?" Janae folded her arms. "How are you eating in the middle of a T. Rex fight?" Brooklyn whispers. "First of all, they're not fighting, they're playing" The woman says

"Cranio-facial biting! It's true!" Darius fangirls. "Uh yes. Don't change the subject!" The woman tells them. "Lady, we don't want to be here, either. We just want to go home." Yaz says. "We'll see about that. Come on" The woman leads them away from the T. Rexes

"You really expect me to believe that children survived alone on Isla Nublar for six entire months?" The woman questioned. "Trust me, it's hard for us to believe too" Brooklyn says

"I suppose you must be telling the truth because who would make up such a crazy story if they didn't have to. Not saying that you have to it that you're crazy but who knows? I don't know you and you don't know me for that matter. Am I yammering on? I've been out here for a month with no one to talk to and I guess that I had more to say than I realized" She explained

Darius takes a deeper look at the woman "You look so familiar..." Out of nowhere, the T. Rexes roar behind them. "Don't worry. They're almost tuckered out. They won't bother us" She reassures the kids

"How do you know that?" Ben asks her. "I study dinosaur brains. Behavioral paleoneurobiologist. I'm Mae Turner-" She started but Darius interrupts her "Turner! That's it! You're Dr. Mae Turner! It's an honor to meet you. I read your book. A Theoretical Emotional Journey with Theropods"

"If you could just point us to a phone, we'll be on our way" Kenji tells Mae. "Yeah. Slight problem with that. This island is completely shut off the grid. No communications in or out" She explains

Janae groans in annoyance, another dead end. "Wait you can't use that to call out?" Brooklyn points to the tablet. "Sorry. Closed circuit. Maybe I use this to connect to a doodad in their brains...Oh! Cant tell you that, actually, proprietary research" Mae says

"So there's no way home?" Yaz asks sadly. "Don't lose faith. You can all rest up with me until we figure out how to get you out of here" Mae tells the kids

Kenji steps in between Janae and Brooklyn "Do we trust her?" He whispers to the both of them. Brooklyn raised an eyebrow and Janae crossed her arms. He slightly laughs "I'll take that as a no"
