Janae stood behind Brooklyn for moral support. Darius and Ben stood behind them also. Brooklyn was about to tell Kenij about his dad. "Are you ready?" Darius asked her. Brooklyn released a stressed sigh
All four kids walked in to see Kenji gathering the plates. Janae patted Brooklyn's shoulder before walking over to Yaz and Sammy in the corner. "You think it's going to go well?" Yaz asked Janae. "Let's hope so" She responded
"Kenji I am so so sorry-" Brooklyn started. "For standing me up?" Kenji questioned. That was a hard one to swallow "I know it looks bad but I had a good reason. Darius, Ben, Janae, and I found out that your dad freed Kash. And he has Mae working with him to perfect Dino control and they've done it!" Brooklyn explained
Kenji slammed the dishes on the table "Are you serious?"
"Yes which is probably what your dad's big presentation is about" Brooklyn said. But Kenji's reaction isn't the one she was hoping for "I'm not talking about my dad. I'm talking about you. Instead of showing up to our first date, you decide to sneak around behind my back and tried to convince me that my dad is some sort of a supervillain?"
"We should probably go" Sammy started to walk away but Janae pulled her back "Yup, you're right, we should stay"
"It wasn't like that at all. Brooklyn tried to get back to the date but there were obstacles" Ben tried to explain. "I don't care. I'm not even mad at that. Why didn't you guys just talk to me about any of this?" He asked
"You were getting so close to your dad and we didn't want to bring it up unless we were sure he was up to something" Darius stepped up. Kenji couldn't believe what he was hearing, he sighed annoyingly "Fine. I'll talk to him"
He walks towards the door but before he steps out, he looks back at his friends "But for the record, you guys are the ones who are obviously up to something" He slams the door on his way out
"That...could've been much worse" Janae tried to lighten the mood. "Nothing's changed. We still need to help Mae and stop Mr. Kon" Ben said
The others agreed and they made their way to the warehouse Mae and Kash are supposedly at. The kids watched as the BRAD-X's dragged boxes into this warehouse. Mae and Kash were right behind the robot
Once they got inside, the kids stepped out of place. "We gotta get in there and help Mae!" Ben suggested. "We can't just storm the place. Not with Kash around." Yaz says before they duck back down when the BRAD-X comes back out
"And that BRAD-X. We should sneak inside before it comes back" Sammy said. "Or we'll sneak in when it comes back" Darius says. Janae was confused "Huh?" She asked. After explaining more, Brooklyn and Ben volunteered to go inside. "Hey, be careful" Janae told Ben before he left
Ben smiled at her "I will" He patted her hand before going into the box with Brooklyn. Janae watched closely as the BRAD-X pushes the box inside. "Am I missing something?" Darius asked suddenly. Yaz snickers "Nothing at all"
Janae turned back " What?". "You're catching feelings for Ben" Sammy squealed. Janae scoffs "I am not"
"Yes you do. Face it. Janae and Ben sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-" Sammy sing before Janae cut her off "If you finish that song, I will K-I-L-L you" Janae said, cheeks heating up from embarrassment
Sammy chuckled at her friends embarrassment. "It's okay to have a crush, Nae. You don't have to be embarrassed about it" Darius added
"It's not the crush I'm worried about. Guys, I still haven't healed from the last one" Janae opened up
"With Kenji and Brooks?" Yaz asks. "No...me and Chris. Now that he's here, all of those bad memories together came back. Ben is sweet, he really is but is he ready to put back together a broken heart?" She said
All of he kids looked at each other. Darius turned to Janae "Well, it wouldn't hurt to try right?"
Janae shrugged her shoulders in thought. Just then, Ben and Brooklyn came back just in time. "What did you find?" Darius asked. "Only that we can control the chips inside of the dinosaurs" Brooklyn proudly says
Perfect, their plan was working.

Once they got back, they were met with an angry Kenji. "Welcome back. Where were you?" He said in a monotone voice. "We went to find Mae. She gave us-" Darius motioned towards Brooklyn so she could show Kenji the remotes but his reaction wasn't what they hoped for
"So you went behind my back again?" Kenji questioned. Janae quickly glanced at Brooklyn putting the remotes back in her pocket. "I don't care what you found or what you think is going on. My dad told me everything. He's trying to save the dinosaurs, just like we are" He said
Janae stepped up "How? By controlling them against their will?"
"Why are you assuming the worst. My dad has been nothing but cool to you. And despite how you've been acting, he's still going to take you home when this is over." Kenji stated. But he looks at his friends when they don't answer back
"What? You don't believe him?" He questioned. He pointed at Sammy and Brooklyn "Do you need to break into his office again to find proof?"
The two girls felt guilty about that. "And you, Janae, he even doubled Chris's work schedule so you wouldn't even see him and this is how you repay him?"
Janae knew he was right but still, jeopardizing these animals' lives in order for them to go home is not the right way to go. "Look this presentation is really important. Maybe you don't know my dad like I do but you do know me. So I'm asking you as my friends to trust me and stay out of it" With that, Kenji walked out of the room
The kids stood there dumbfounded at their friend. Janae sighs heavily and walks out the door, heading to an empty room. Soon, everyone started to follow her. Once they were alone, Sammy closed the door
Yaz wondered what she was doing "Sammy, what are you doing?"
"Making sure Kenji isn't following us, which feels weird and wrong, doesn't it?" Sammy started to realize what she was doing. "If we do this, it could change everything between us. All of us" Brooklyn stated.
"I get it. I can't imagine anyone convincing me to take sides against my dad. But it doesn't change the fact that we're stuck on this island where the future of these dinosaurs depend on us. We are the only ones who can help them" Darius told the group
Janae sighs "Kenji won't like the idea of it but he has to come around"
"And if it means not letting his dad hurt more dinosaurs..." Ben started. "Or innocent people..." Sammy said. Brooklyn sighed sadly "Then yeah, we have to do it. "
The kids stood in silence as they realize what they have to do. "We gotta do what we gotta do."

Y'all, I am so sorry about this long hiatus. A little update, I have been doing band all this time. I couldn't do anything for a certain amount of time, I am now just getting back to my stories. it's like a 'initation' thing. But not to worry, I am back and I will be updating every Sunday at 9 p.m.
I could've sworn I wrote this chapter before but everything deleted when I had to restart my computer. Now I had to retype all of it. I have a lot of chapters to post lol.
