Escape from Isla Nublar Pt. 1

It has been a long time. Janae, Brooklyn, and Sammy watched from the edge of the boat, waiting for Ben and Darius to show up but they never did

"You think they're still coming?" Janae asks out loud. "They have to be," Sammy said

"We're going back to shore!" Kenji shouted from the captain's pit. While the boat moved, Janae's fingers rubbed against her bracelet

She wondered if this time, they'll actually make it off the island. That way, she can see her family again and go to Mr. Anton's elote stand and get piraguas with her cousin Khadijah. She missed Haiti so much. The boat arrives at the dock just in the nick of time. Janae got off first with the rest of the kids following her closely

They all crept up the ramp, trying to see what's going on. Then all of a sudden, a thick tail with spikes swings above Janae's head. She quickly ducked out of the way, slightly yelping. Brooklyn cowards behind her, peeking around her shoulder "Calm down, it's just a Stegosaurus"

Janae let out a breath of relief. "No Scorpios...yet" Brooklyn spoke. As Janae sat back up from taking a breath, Sammy gasps "Oh my gosh! Guys! Come quick!"

Janae slowly walked up the ramp, just to be precautious but when she saw what Sammy was talking about, she widens her eyes. "I'm not moving! Describe what it looks like!" Kenji asks, hiding behind the ramp

"Would you just come over here Kenji?" There was a random limo stuck in the tree. There was mud and dents all over it, this is new "Oh no. Darius and Ben?"

Janae looked around for any clues, if it had to be Darius and Ben, they would make it out without any injuries. "Look! They made it out! These footprints look fresh" She kneeled down to touch them

"There's more footprints over here!" Sammy shouted. Janae wiped the mud off her hands with her pants. The kids run where Sammy was standing. From a distance, they could see all of the broken trees "Something big came through here. Like, lots of something bigs"

"So? We're looking for Ben and Darius, remember? That's just dinosaurs doing dinosaur stuff"

"No, look. They destroyed the trees they like to eat. Something spooked them real bad" Suddenly, a roar comes out of nowhere. They all huddled together as Kenji picks up a piece of a thick tree branch "I swear if that's the Scorpius Rex..."

But something about this roar caught Janae off guard, it sounded weak. She stepped up slowly to peek over the tree "Wait Janae..." Sammy called for her. They all followed her, scared about what's over this tree

Janae took the risk and peeked over but that scared feeling turned into a bittersweet one, it was a baby Brachiosaurus, all alone. "Aw," All of the girls squealed. "Come here aww!" Janae called to it like it was a dog

"Don't touch it..." Kenji tried to tell the girls but they ignored him. "Guys remember, in and out?"

"But she's looking for her herd" Sammy whined. "How do you know it's a girl?" Janae asked. Before Sammy answered, Janae tilted her head to the side. From there, she could see what gender it was "Yup it's a girl"

"So what if she's looking for her herd? Why should we care about what happens to the dinosaurs?" Kenji folded his arms. "Because...because life is worth protecting. The Scorpius was neve meant to be out in the wild. Dr. Wu knew that when he froze it" Brooklyn tried reassuring him

"Okay yeah, obvi the Scorpius thing is bad but it's not our responsibility. The people who made that freak should've thought of the consequences before they gene-spliced rando lizards together!"

"I'm pretty sure they thought of the consequences but think about it--" Janae started to speak but Kenji cut her off. "We need to focus on finding Darius and Ben, in and out. Then finally, we escape this nightmare island!"

Janae sighed, she understood where he was coming from but he's not listening. The baby Brachy kept crying and crying, she really missed her herd. Kenji groans "I can't believe I'm...Woo!" Kenji started to imitating a dinosaur cry

That's smart, Janae thought. Her hands formed a circle around her mouth as she starts to copy Kenji, the noise coming from all of the kids was enough for any dinosaur could hear. A few seconds later, they all felt thumping coming their way, it's working!

The mother came in a hurry, she was very happy to see her baby. The kids handed the baby off to the mother "I can't believe it" Janae stared in awe. Brooklyn placed a hand on her shoulder, taking everything in. They reunited a baby with its mother

Nearby, Yaz picked up the captain's hat that Kenji was looking for. She tossed him the hat "My hat!" He looked so excited to see it

"Ben and Darius must picked it up so they must be going this way. Look over here!" Yaz calls out to the group but her excitement slowly went down." They're tracking the Scorpios"

"Or maybe the Scorpios is tracking them?" Brooklyn guessed. Janae looked at the footprints down below, her eyes traveled to the rest of the footprints trailing through the jungle "Well whichever guess it is, It can't be good. Let's hurry" she said

The kids walked around for a while, they followed Ben and Darius's footsteps just like they should. All of a sudden, they heard a strange noise, it seems like it was coming from the bushes in front of them. Then out popped Ben and Darius, all of the kids screamed out of reaction

"Ben! Darius!" Janae squealed. She ran up to them to squeeze the life out of both of them. The rest of the kids gave each other a group hug, they were all together again. "What are you guys doing here? We thought you left!" Darius smiled

"What? No! Camp fam for life, right? We'd never leave someone behind. We just had to get away from that stupid Scorpios. It was on the dock" Kenji explained

"Yeah. We saw them up close and personal" When Darius said that, Janae furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "Hold up? 'Them'?" Sammy asks. "Are you saying that there's another Scorpios on the island?" Janae added to that question

"Yup, there's two of them"

"How is that even possible?" They were all confused and now even more scared. "Uh well some animals reproduce asexually and I think...nevermind, it doesn't matter but what does matter is that unless we take them out, they're going to destroy everything and everyone"

Everyone looks around to look at each other "I don't want to be on this island any longer. Like I say, life is worth protecting" Kenji says

"Whatever your plan is, we're in" Brooklyn spoke out. Janae places her arms around Kenji's and Brooklyn's shoulders "Let's do this" She cheerfully says. "Okay then. Let's go find some Scorpios rexes" Darius proudly picks up the tranquilizer gun from earlier

Suddenly, a slimy liquid drops on the tranquilizer. Darius pauses for a second as more drops of the slimy liquid land on the gun, he soon realizes that something is right above him...it's the Scorpios....
