The next night, it's Marielle and Marcs date, they go to the movies, then they drive to an area where they have a full view of the town. They miss the party, because there will be people there that hates Marc, he decides to spend the rest of his date alone with Marielle. Marc leans in for a kiss, Marielle doesn't know whether to kiss him back, she declines and says, "tonight has been amazing but I'd like to wait, Marc respects her more for this, he smiles and tells her he'll wait for as long as she needs. Marielle kisses him on the cheek and says, "I'll take this slowly because I really like you, Marc." They drive home, Marc ever the gentleman, leaves her right to the door. He bids her goodnight and they part ways. Iris was waiting behind the door, she says, "one day, that boy will marry you, he's so right for you." Marielle says, "eavesdropping is rude auntie Iris, but you might be right, I really like him, I feel he really likes me too." Iris says, "honey, how could he not, you're beautiful. He is a great lad, I just wish these townies would give him a break?" Marielle suggests that there might be a way to solve that? Iris asks how? Marielle tells her she has read in the books, that they could do a memory spell, to make them forget the fire, the fact Marc caused it? Iris says, "memory spells can be a bit fickle, he could forget important things, like who he is exactly, he could forget you too. In my opinion Marc must show them he's good by himself." Then Marielle has an idea, it's her birthday, she could invite a lot of people, especially the people that hate him, then he can show them how good he truly is? Iris says, "that might work, we need to find a big enough venue?" Marielle replies, "the land, we could hire a marquee, you could even turn a blind eye to some of us getting drunk or having a couple of alcoholic drinks?" Iris says, "ok, but not one person is to get drunk. If they do, I'll pull the plug. I don't want trouble from the sheriff or angry parents?" Marielle says, "it's a deal, thank you Iris. I love you, ya know."
Iris never had children, she just couldn't find the right man, sure she had plenty of lovers, but because of her witchcraft they didn't stick around. Iris sees Marielle as the daughter she never had. Marielle also makes her feel young again. Iris books the marquee, she orders some kegs of beer from her friend, she makes sure the liquor cabinet is locked, the kids won't have anything stronger than beer. If the party was to happen in England, she would be of the legal age to consume alcohol, here the legal age is 21. Something that's always annoyed Marielle, if kids can buy guns but they can't buy beer, it's quite backwards. In England only clean cut people can be licensed for firearms, but in the US a child of any age can purchase a gun. Even those with criminal records can even buy guns, they buy them at gun shows, which aren't truly regulated. Marielle is excited for the party. Iris put the marquee further away from the house, so it wouldn't be seen from neighbours or prying eyes. The night of the party begins, everyone invited comes, even the ones that hate and are fearful of Marc. Marielle tells Marc that he must mingle with everyone, including the brats that fear him. Marc was busy mingling even having fun with his foes with drinking games, they soon come to realise he's a good guy. In fact he gets invited to Brody's birthday party in a few weeks time. Marielle speaks with everyone that Marc did, she felt that they were being honest is wanting to get to know him, she didn't detect an ounce of negativity towards him by those fearful of him. It actually worked, the night was a raving success. Iris of course had a curfew, they all must be heading home for 10. Marielle and Iris thanked them individually for coming, they tell her the event was great, even the local band they hired, they enjoyed every moment. Marc asks Marielle how she got those people here knowing I was coming, "it was the free beer," she said.
The next day at work, at the end of her shift Marc turned up with Brody, a couple of other friends and Marcs friends who she hadn't met yet. They all sat in a booth talking about the party and how much they enjoyed it. They all apologised to Marc for how they treated him, how they got him so wrong. This made Marielle's heart smile. Marielle tapped into her gift, to see what will go down at Brody's party, there wasn't a sinister plan afoot. They all actually think he's a fun guy, they're just sorry they didn't try and understand him. He told them what happened with the school, they said, "we know you're a warlock, we just didn't understand?" Marc said some of the people that caused the spirit board to cause the trouble, haven't been the same since, Brody said, "my sister was involved, she's been unbearable since." Marc says, "it's because that spirit still torments her, I can help her if you like?" Brody asks, "what can you do?" Marc says, "I can cleanse her, bring her to my house and I'll have her good as new."
The next day, Brody brings his sister Tracey. Marc leads her to his bedroom, he says an incantation, then suddenly she shakes, she wakes up, saying "Brody, what are we doing here?" Brody asks her how she feels? She replies, "different not like I was yesterday, full of anger. Like a weight has been lifted." Brody's sister hugs him, saying "I'm sorry for the way I've treated you guys all these years." Brody is shocked, he thanks Marc and tells him that his family will be relieved, she has been hard to handle, that's why she is homeschooled, if she is around people she's volatile. Brody takes his sister home, her parents can't believe the change in her, they call Marc and thank him. Marc can't believe how quickly the neighbourhood are treating him, news of how he healed Tracey flys through the neighbourhood, soon they're all treating him like the human he deserves to be treated as. The hatred of Marc fades, as quick as the flames of the school. All because of Marielle.
