My apartment was in disarray when I made it back home. I glumly picked up the evidence of my struggles before I had left and hopped in the shower to wash away the sins of my night.

I escaped the steam of bathroom, wrapping a towel around my waist and exiting into my bedroom. My phone screen lit up the room. Dropping my sweatshirt back on the bed, I picked up the phone. It slipped through my fingers when I read the name on the screen. It was Y/n. I don't know if I was hoping she would call me or not. But now that she had I was hesitant to answer. I retrieved it from the bed and just stared at it. Waiting to see if I would answer it, like someone else who be making the decision. Inevitably the call ended. But messages followed moments later.

Hi,

I just wanted to check that you got home.

I read and re-read. As if the message would change. Would it be smart to reply? I really should stay away from her.

Once I had made the decision not to reply I put on my clothes. Between each article of clothing, I looked back at my phone, debating my decision.

I was ready to give in and message back but a knock at the door stopped me. Without thinking I opened it.

"Spence," JJ sighed in relief. I could see that she. Was happy that I had opened the door. My predicament with Y/n was consuming my mind that I forgot that I had been MIA since Gideon left.

Penelope flooded through the door and engulfed me in a hug. "I'm so happy you opened the door."

Behind her Derek filed in. "Kid, you really had us worried."

"I'm fine," I mumbled. "What are you guys doing here?" I winced in the light as JJ went around lighting up my apartment.

"Are you serious, Reid? No one has been able to reach you in over a week." Derek scanned my apartment trying to profile me.

"I'm fine, honestly. I was going to come in on Monday.

"Good, then you are going out with us Monday night." Derek ruffled my hair and sat on the couch where I had curled up.

I pulled a pillow over my face. "I don't..."

"No excuses," Derek sternly replied. "I bailed on a girl to come see you. Have some respect."

"Reid, it will be fun," Penelope volunteered. "I also put a care package on your counter. You look like you haven't been eating."

"You look pale Spence," JJ frowned at my appearance. "When's the last time you went outside."

"Earlier this evening actually." It was wishful thinking to think that they would be happy with that explanation.

"Really..." Derek looked me up and down. "Where did you go?"

"To see a friend." I continue to hide behind the pillow, but I knew Penelope and JJ were eyeing me along with Derek.

"Who's your friend?" Derek narrowed his eyes.

"You don't know them." My nonchalance was weak.

"How convenient." Derek's eyebrows shot up.

My phone buzzed once more. My eyes widened. Derek was sitting closest to where I had dropped the phone when I answered the door.

I feigned that I wasn't going to answer. Maybe that would deter Derek. It didn't instead he picked up the vibrating piece of metal.

"Y/f/n Y/l/n," he read out loud. JJ leaned over Derek's shoulder and investigated herself. "Now why would a girl be calling you at 2am?"
