Ring... ring...
"Hello..."
I blinked in surprise not expecting to hear anything but more astounding silence. The weekend had long passed and yet still no word from Y/n. And here I was persecuting myself. Resisting the urge to get my fix and supressing my need for my distraction. Essentially, I had locked myself away. Luckily no cases had called me in.
"Where have you been?" I barked.
"I'm sorry?"
"Do you have any idea what I been through? The thoughts in my head?"
"I'm sorry... Who is this?" The person on the other end of the phone was baffled. Then it occurred to me that it wasn't the tantalising vocals of Y/n.
"errrrr... Spencer." I cleared my throat to not let my voice whimper. "Spencer," I repeated.
"Cassie can you help please," I recognised Aaron's voice immediately.
"Yeah, one second..."
"What are you doing?... Is that Y/n's phone?"
"Yes. I just wanted it to stop ringing."
Aaron's voice rang clearer as he got closer. "Cass you don't touch other people's stuff."
"I was only trying to help. This number calls all the time. Obviously, they care about Y/n a lot. They need to know that she's not doing so wel..."
"Shut up. She's going to be fine. Dad said..."
"Whatever," Cassie thrust the phone in to Aaron's hands. "Just because you're scared Aaron doesn't mean you can deny the truth. I love Y/n too. She makes you bearable to be around. But someone else might love her too and we can't be selfish and keep her to ourselves, because she needs to have everyone around. Most especially people who make her feel like herself and not another patient, with another ser of scan, another set of bloods. God I'm sick of being from a family of medics." I heard her feet stomping on the ground as she fled.
Aaron sighed heavily. "Hello..."
"Aaron, what the hell is going on. Where is Y/n?"
He sighed again. "She'll call you when she waked up. She should be well enough to talk now. Oh and Dr Reid, it was my fault she didn't call you sooner. But You and she should not be so reliant on each other. I know that you know what I mean."
I clenched my jaw. I suppose I was trading in one vice for another.
