GREY KINGSTON

a loud thud wakes me up. my eyes snap open and i instinctively gasp for air. i'm unaware of my surroundings and before my eyes can adjust to the darkness, i'm pulled by my feet and directly into someone's grip.

it's the guy from earlier, dean, i think is his name.

it's nighttime now and i'm groggy as dean keeps me restrained in the middle of the street while grabbing weapons out of the car. his fingers are digging into my wrists as he holds them tightly behind my back.

my heart begins to race as i remember what happened. i look around in all directions for daryl, but he's no where in sight. my breathing becomes labored as i can't help but start to panic.

an ache sets in at the base of my skull and a killer headache spreads behind my eyes, "what did you knock me out with?"

"shut it." he snaps at me.

"where did you take us? hey, answer me!" i try to kick his knees out, but he's too strong for me. he holds me against his chest to the point that i can't move.

"listen, the harder you try to fight, the worse things are gonna turn out for you. now walk." his voice is gruff in my ear as he pushes me forward until i have no choice but to move my feet.

there are three cars parked one after the other on the side of the road, including the one we just got out of.

the street is lined with trees on either side, no buildings, and the pavement is almost completely covered with dead, crunchy leaves.

i see a small, flickering light that belongs to a fire coming up, but it's hidden behind the third and farthest car.

"if you're gonna kill me, just do it-" his hand roughly covers my mouth from behind, making sure i can't let out any noise. the toes of his shoes kick at my ankles, forcing me to continue to walk.

at this point, i'm not sure how much fight i have left in me. my heart is so heavy—losing the prison, losing hershel, being separated from everyone, not knowing where beth is, and now i don't know where i am either.

as we approach the last vehicle lined up on the road, i see a group of men standing around—the group from earlier that took daryl and i. among these men is daryl who's cornered against the car by two others.

"daryl!" my feet scuff against the ground trying to run, but dean tightens his arms around me.

daryl's head whips over and he holds up his hand as if he's telling me it's okay—but it's not. it can't be.

tears sting at my eyes as fear begins to eat away at my stomach.

"the two of you killed our men, yet you say you're good people. see that right there is a lie." i hear the voice of the man with white hair, joe. "i knew you were a liar when you said no one else was in that house, but that lil' one was up there with tony and len!"
