hi!
making this because there have been a lot of new readers finding this book since it's been completed (which makes me soo happy)

i just wanted to reintroduce it and hopefully clear up some of the same questions i see in comments a lot !
┊⁀➷

◌ this book follows the show fairly closely despite some characters/plot lines being moved around for the sake of fitting into this story.
personally, i love 'season 7' of this book (ch 59 and +) so much. i think the writing is dare i say kinda beautiful at some parts, and it doesn't stick to the plot of the show as much so it was very fun to come up w/ and write.

◌ yes this book is (in a way i guess) best friend's dad trope. main character IS OF AGE (20 at start; nearing 25 by end of book). there are many flashbacks throughout to her and carl and rick's lives before the apocalypse that fill in lots of blanks.

◌ there is smut! this gets asked a lot. @ first it's a lot of fade-to-black smut (booooo ik) but it does come later, you just have to keep reading ;)

◌ this book is about family, grief, finding people who feel like home and keeping them close; finding your way back to yourself after completely losing yourself; accepting that others love you even when you think you don't deserve it, and taking all of that and deciding that life is worth living even when some days it doesn't feel like it.

◌ psa: i do have a daryl dixon fic on my page—after writing this book, i had to give him his own story (plot unconnected to this one) !

and lastly,
via The Ones Who Live (2024) yet very fitting to the plot of Youngblood.
