Will You Still Love Me?

"Jace, if you do something that reckless, I swear I'm gonna transfer you to Skeleton City!" Came his boyfriend, Alec's high-pitched, authoritative voice from the living room, causing Magnus to almost spill the gravy on his hand that he was stirring. With a long, tired sigh, Magnus switched off the stove, took off the apron, and walked towards the bickering duo.

"Can't I for once be at peace in my own house!?" Magnus complained, eyeing both men with annoyance.

"Sorry, Magnus," Alec said sheepishly and pecked his cheek once he sat down beside Alec. "Jace was just leaving."

"No, I'm not!" Jace said back, voice high and clearly offended. Magnus resisted the urge to snap his neck and kick him out of his territory.

"Jace, we're done discussing this!" Alec stated matter-of-factly.

"Alec, this isn't reckless! That species needed to be eliminated for good. You have read yourself what all they have done. And what's wrong with the golden beam elimination!? All I'll do is travel to their den or whatever they call it, and do what I have to do! That's it! All you have to do is sanction it."

"No," Alec said, shooting the deadliest glare at the man, and Magnus could notice the silver in his eyes beginning to take over his natural honey-hazel pupils. He was starting to lose control. Scooting closer, Magnus rested his hand over Alec's thigh and started rubbing it gently.

"Jace, do you have the wish to be burnt by silver fire? Because I can see Alexander is starting to lose control." Magnus said, trying to calm his boyfriend.

"Look dude," Jace said with a gulp, still being stubborn over whatever these two were discussing. "You have read the news, you have seen the state of Emerald City and Luminis Forest. You can't deny that species are beyond dangerous. Being the Prince and soon-to-be king of Silverpyre, you should be doing something about it."

Alec took a deep breath beside him but Magnus' body tensed. The news? Those attacks? It's not about what he thinks about, is it? It couldn't be.

"Jace..." Alec spoke way too calmly, "I am doing something about it by not doing anything about it at all. Do you realize your solution could start a war?"

"Dude, there won't be a war if-"

"How can you know that all the Thryvalcans would be there when you try to murder them in cold blood?"

"Du-"

"Jace! We don't know if the whole species is like that! What if you kill innocents, or worse, cubs? What if there would be survivors and decide to go on full-fledged war with us because we tried to kill their families!? Innocents? Your idea to eliminate a whole fucking species is idiotic, Jace! And have you given it any thought that the king, queen, or prince of the Thryvalcans' spirits might not be there at all!?

We don't know who they are, or what they look like. We don't know how powerful they are! All we know about is the evil ones and no, Jace, I don't even for once believe that the whole species is like that!" Alec yelled, and Magnus' worst fear came true. They were talking about his species. And not just talking, that fucking Herondale wanted to kill his species, kill his family, his pack.

At least his boyfriend of two months was wiser than his Eiratha. That's why he fell in love with Alexander Lightwood, a soul-wielding Warlord and Prince of Silverpyre, despite their kinds being archenemies in history. The present world wasn't aware of that, but their kind did. Warlords and Thryvalcans rivalry goes back centuries, even millennials, and he was the first one to fall in love with the current prince. Yet, Alec didn't know about him. Didn't know what he truly was. Magnus was too scared to tell his boyfriend who he was because of the misconception their species had around the world. People feared them when that was far from being the truth. He was in love and didn't want to lose Alec. Their kind, they only love once, fiercely, and don't do well with heartbreak.
