The Irregular at Magic High School: Mayumi Route

Volume 20.5: Summer Vacation

"Wanna go to the beach?"

It started with these few words from Shizuku.

"To go swimming?"

"Yep!" Shizuku, with her face on the screen of Miyuki and Tatsuya's television, affirmed.

The group girls had just been on a call with each other when Shizuku asked this question; standard videophone systems were capable of handling ten-way conversations these days.

Honoka, who had been friends with Shizuku since elementary school caught onto what she was saying in an instance, "Oh, you mean...?"

"Yep!"

Miyuki, on the other hand, only knew the two for around four months, incomparable to the years that the pair had known each other for.

"You mean... what exactly?" Confused, Miyuki asked.

Only now the pair had realized that they'd been leaving Miyuki out of their conversation.

"Well, Shizuku's family owns a summerhouse in Ogasawara."

"What? Your family owns a private beach!?"

"...Yeah..." Slightly embarrassed, Shizuku replied with a short answer.

It was a fad among the wealthy to own a summer house on Ogswara, but due to an onslaught of people attacking them due to the supposed environmental problems which would occur from these houses, most islands were empty. Shizuku, though knowing Miyuki meant no malicious intent, still felt slightly anxious.

Catching herself, Shizuku continued talking, "My dad told me to invite some friends over. I'm pretty sure it's to meet you and Tatsuya, though."

"Oh, so Uncle Ushio will be with us too..." Honoka looked slightly pale, as though she was mulling over the countless memories she must have had with Shizuku and her father.

"Don't worry, he'll only be there for the start. He's really busy with work so he'll most likely be gone in an instant, he can only spare a few hours."

Looking relieved, Honoka sighed.

"So, when did you plan to do it?"

"Haven't decided yet. I wanted a time convenient for Tatsuya."

Miyuki, realizing her task, ended their conversation not long after to find Tatsuya.

"And that's what they said..."

It was the morning and the pair had just eaten their breakfast.

Tatsuya thought to himself for a moment.

"Would it be just us, Shizuku and Honoka?"

"Shizuku said that she'd wanted to invite Erika, Mizuki, Saijou, and Yoshida if possible as well... They aren't as close to them as we are so she wanted us to invite them on her behalf."

Miyuki originally planned to do this all herself. In fact, she didn't want to even bother her brother with this.

"I see, well, I'll get in touch with Leo and Mikihiko... and as for what days I'm free..."

He took a sip of his coffee.

"...Next week, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Anything after would be quite difficult."

Just before Miyuki was able to speak, however, another thought appeared in Tatsuya's head, "Right, is it alright if I invite Mayumi too?"

Slightly confused, and slightly worried, she replied lightly, "Yes, I'll run it up with Shizuku, but it should be fine."
