After their conversation, Mayumi asked for some help to rein in the disturbance in the tent, so he stayed inside the tent...Though, he didn't really know what he was meant to be doing. Looking back on it, he didn't know why he had nodded, after all, it was meant to be the female seniors who looked after the female players' mentality, not some male freshman, who wasn't even a player, but an engineer.

Why had he nodded?

He thought it back a couple of times.

Just accepting his fate, he began his work on adjusting CADs...

...Or so he was thinking he would do.

In less than a minute, Tatsuya was surrounded, engulfed in, a group of freshman girls. He had hoped that it was just them flocking over Miyuki, who was standing next to him, but even he wasn't dull enough to not notice the intense glares at him.

Tatsuya, though, tried his best to ignore them. His face stayed unchanged as he did so.

His face never changed, despite the stares on him.

He just sat there, not realizing the value of these stares. The value of being recognized.

He wouldn't realize that Mayumi had done this to show him that he was appreciated.

To show him how much she cared for him.

It was a bitter fate.

As seven o'clock came around, the girls' Mirage Bat competitors prepared.

Of course, this included Honoka, who had a ready face plastered over her. Tatsuya had his faith that she would win, and with his plan, it was almost inevitable who would win.

The lake glittered, reflecting the night sky. The competitors prepared for the start.

Honoka had the advantage here, and she knew it. Her senses were more attuned to the changes in eidos that signaled light waves, this meant that it was easier to see where the orbs would appear, and as she did in the qualifiers, would lead her to victory.

Two orbs formed in the night sky.

Red and blue.

Immediately, a player rushed out. It was Subaru. The two from First High were always the first to begin their activation processing and the first ones to end it.

A voice erupted from an engineer.

"Damn it! How did they get such complex movements from such a small activation program!?"

The gap in the experience of engineers was clear. It had always been.

Neither of the two First High girls had to do anything to their CAD for the sequence of movements, meaning that the entire activation program they were calling on from when they jumped contained every part of the process until they landed.

It put less stress on the magician, and also made the activation process faster.

Another voice erupted, "It's almost like Taurus Silver was here!" It was clear that they were annoyed.

Slightly further from Miyuki and her friends, Mayumi and Azusa were sitting down, also watching. As if an allergic reaction, Azusa instantly heard the complaint about Tatsuya and, like she was replying, whispered under her breath, "It's not as if he's Taurus Silver..."

She was almost certain who Tatsuya really was.

"Did you say something?" Mayumi asked, though still facing the direction of the competition.
