Chapter 54: What is Your Biggest Fear?

Something has been really weird lately. First, I just can't talk to Daisy like how I talk to her in the past. I am feeling shy, and scared at the same time. Well why wouldn't I? She is now the most powerful persona in this place. Second, everyone kept on teasing both of us, making it more awkward for the situation. And third, this seemingly endless vision.

I don't know why I need to experience such nightmare, but I think it's trying to tell me something. A warning, maybe? And you might be thinking why I didn't told Daisy most of this visions of mine?
Well to be honest, I wanted to. But I am scared that she might worry about me and forget about worrying herself. I know that little idiot. Whenever she worries for someone, she tends to forget about herself, that's why she feels pain for herself the most in the end. And I don't want that to happen, that's why I don't want to tell her about this.
Maybe, some other time.

Anyway, we are now looking for the cave. The last place to go before actually climbing the mountain. And believe me, this place is really haunting. Goosebumps gets on me everytime the wind blows. Plus, the sound of owl. Perfect horror. What makes me calm though, is the part where I can see Daisy safe. That's better than anything else.

"Fear~" We came in to a halt when we heard a voice. Well, more like a whisper. And it was so terrifying to hear such voice in the middle of a dead forest.

"Who was that?" We all slowly went beside each other and readied ourselves. Enemies might be anywhere. Oh, and it was Rose who asked.

"Fear is what makes you weak~" The voice said, and Guinevere was about to shout. Good thing Traceler covered her mouth before she does. "Show your fear~" It said and right in front of us, a cave appeared out of nowhere.
It wasn't there earlier, until the voice's last words. Maybe it was hidden, enchanted? "Fear can be your weakness~ but it can also be your power~" The voice again said. "So tell me~ what is your biggest fear?" From inside, came a horrible one eyed giant. A cyclops, holding a thorny log with him and blood drenched on the tip of it.

"Oh dear!" Mye said as she looked at the cyclops with horror.

We didn't talk after that. Everyone was surprised about what they are saying, but I just didn't talk, because I feel like one wrong move for us, is already a death sentence, so I just waited for someone to talk.

"Hmm?" He started sniffing in the air. He sniffed and sniffed, until his expression came like that of a surprised one. "I-Impossible! How could this happen?!" He asked and looked at all of us. One by one, he inspected all of us and walked. The ground shoke with his every step, so we need to keep our balance or we'll fall. "You! Tell me your biggest fear!" His voice boomed around the place as he asked the question to Marc.
My colleague looked at him, not really knowing what to answer, but he did anyways.

"Honestly, my biggest fear already faded away years ago. So I don't have any fear left besides the fact that I will be dying without serving my kingdom the best way I could." He answered without hesitations, and the cyclops looked at him straight in the eyes before it left him alone and went to Mye.

"What is your biggest fear?" He asked.

"I have so many fears! But my biggest fear, is not being able to live my life to the fullest. Not being with my family and friends." She answered as she look at all of us with a sad smile.
Then the cyclops walked towards us. Daisy and I are beside each other, and when he saw us, he knitted his eyebrows and stomped his way towards us. Then he crouched his way down to look at both of us.

"You two! You look kinda familiar." He said and he looked at everyone of us again and then back at us two. "I have already seen you two, but I can't seem to remember where." He explained.

"Really now? Such a great coincidence that this is just the first time we explored this place." Daisy answered and the cyclops looked at her with shock.

"Explore?! No one has ever explored this place, not even once! You must be lying!" He answered.

"Technically, we are here on a mission, and you seem to be a very nice guy. So~ can you please help us get to that mountain?" Daisy said, pointing at the mountain that we need to go, and the cyclop's expression was just surprised as we are seeing her talk to him casually.

"Why would you want to go to that mountain? It is forbidden! Only the most sacred persons are allowed to go there." He explained.

"That's exactly the point. We need to go there to find out about them. Because our empire is being attacked by another empire and the only thing to defeat them, is by finding out the origin of everything from up there." She explained briefly. The cyclops looked at her and asked.

"What is your biggest fear?" Daisy was taken aback by what she heard. Then her expression changed into fear and sorrow. Then she looked down. We can't see her expression now.

"My fear is constantly getting bigger everyday. And I don't even know what the biggest of them all is." She answered and then I saw her shivering, so I went to aid her. I held her by the shoulders and pat her back. "But after entering this place and having some visions that are more scary than everyone else's fears, I realized one thing." She said. "I realized that my biggest fear, is actually fearing my biggest fear." After her answers, she raised her head and looked up at him.

We were all surprised with her face right now. Her eyes is colored white, and her iris has an orange thing on it. And if you look closely, you can see the phoenix on it. The cyclops was so surprised that he actually fell, causing a small quake.

"I-Impossible." He expressed.

I saw Daisy's eyes welling up with tears. I felt pain when I saw her like that. She also glowed so powerful, a mixture of orange and white, but she just remained steady at her place.

"Y-You! Y-You're the- phoenix!" The cyclops said and Daisy smiled sadly at him.

After that, he bowed and paid his respect like a trained soldier, and he even invited us inside the cave. He gave us food, and some water.
Daisy went unconscious after her sudden burst, but she is fine now. She just needs some rest. Good thing the cyclops has a bed, put her there and let her rest.

Everyone was on the dining area. We were actually all there. Daisy is the only one missing, but it's fine. We finished eating, and the cyclops asked.

"How did you find the phoenix?" That question made us look at each other.

"We didn't found her. The former king and queen of our empire did." Jade answered.

"But how did they do it? I mean, it's impossible to find the phoenix. No one ever did find one. Because it is believed that the phoenix only shows itself, when people needed them most. But no one has ever seen one since then. Specially now that they all vanished. But your ruler did?" We were silenced by what he just said.
