Raghav's POV

🎶🎶
Girl, it's high time, I tell ya
No more messing around
Time to lay these cards on the table
And just throw it on out

Wife! Wife! WIFE!!

Just that word rolling off my tongue, sounds alien to me yet so satisfying. I had never ever imagined in my wildest dream that one day I would be standing at this stage of life – as a married man. The cherry on top was the fact that having lived a mundane life, I had a love marriage!!  When I had sent my wedding invitation to my schoolmates and friends, shock was their unanimous expression. Their eyes popped out of their sockets, when I relayed the 'love' prefix of my marriage. They all thought, I would die as a Saint. I have no qualms about it, as it was the very thought I had, once upon a time.

Going back in time to when our wedding preparations started on full swing. The endless tiresome online video chat sessions with our families for shopping or in it's decision making process. Zeroing it on venues for the wedding and it's reception, the attires and catering menu, preparing the invitees list. Uff! Everything directly or indirectly related to the wedding was taxing.

I'm talking you and me with the same street name
Same last name,
same everything
It's a real thing, a how I feel thing
So I'ma go on and take a swing

I remember the day we landed back at Coimbatore around ten days prior to our wedding day, we weren't spared an ounce of sleep in the name of jet lag. It felt like we were immediately transported from the airport, straight to the boutique for our wedding fittings. Sasha had made a shocking announcement over there. "I'm going to wear a saree for the wedding!"

I literally couldn't believe, in fact I tried unclogging my ears, thinking I heard it wrong.

My mom, Sarita said, "Sasha, it's not required. We know how uncomfortable you are in sarees. It's your special day, everything is arranged for the both of you and it makes no sense making you uncomfortable on your day."

Sasha was adamant. "Maa (mother), it's ok. I had my way during the engagement and can have it on the reception too. Besides on the wedding it would be weird and out of place if I wear jeans and sit in the mandap (wedding stage/altar)." She cheekily said and my mom blessed her while sliding her hand with affection over Sasha's head.

"But, I still think you should re-think it". My mom replied earnestly.

"Sarita ji, let it be. She has already decided and it'll be like banging on a wall now, to make her change her decision. Anyways, it works for us. Thank God! I'll be spared from all the questioning glares and stinky eyes I was dreading for her jeans clad wedding dress." Mrs. Hedge, Shobana, aka Sasha's mom replied.

"Mom!!!" Sasha whined.

Mrs. Hedge faked a dramatic gasp and said "Thank God, I thought you would call me auntie, wondering if you called Sarita ji, as Maa, in confusion."

Sasha snorted and laid her head on her mother's shoulder, while wrapping her shoulders in a side hug. "How can I get confused between my sweet mother and my extra sweet would-be mother-in-law."
