Sasha's POV
🎶🎶
I'm sure you got some things
You'd like to change about yourselfBut when it comes to me
I wouldn't want to be anybody else🎶🎶
"Eeewwww! What is this? What the hell is hanging there?..... It's tickling me", I squirmed in annoyance.
"Wait a minute..... Just stand still for 2 minutes, will you?", Ruhi, her colleague who was helping her dress up for the Client visit in the ladies room at office, ordered in a stern voice.
Chitra, holding the safety pins in her hands burst out laughing aloud at the sight.
I whipped my head sideways to give a zip-it-up glance to Chitra. While straightening up my shoulders and back, to stand in attention, "Watch out, you might swallow the pins". Instantly the laughter booming in the room came to an abrupt end.
"That's so rude!", proclaimed Chitra.
"Oh ya right", I did my signature eye-roll minus my spectacles, "It was for your safety. We don't want to be rushing to an ambulance in the mid of Cathy's client visit, do we now?", I enunciated.
Chitra, let out a small chuckle, "Wait till you step out, Missy....we'll see who or should I say how many are going to be needing an ambulance", wiggling her eyebrows in a tease.
"Cut it, both of you", Ruhi shut the bickering pair up.
"But she -"
"I'm trying to work here. Stand straight", Ruhi me cut off and turned to Chitra, "Pass me two pins, we will pin the pallu pleats, here and here and that should do it".
After another good fifteen minutes, Ruhi got ready to showcase their creation, to the world or actually to me. She slowly turned me around, dramatically as in any movie, to catch a glimpse of my "dolled-up" version in the mirror. I came face-to-face with a blurred me, spontaneously my hand reached out for my spectacles on the slab.
SMACK!... OUCH!
"Don't you dare touch that", Chitra scorned.
Tending to my smacked hand, "Why?", I asked halfheartedly in a mellow voice, "I can't see without them."
"Use these instead", handing me over my contact lens.
"Yes", Ruhi agreed with Chitra in a tone of finality.
I huffed, "Now this is going over hand guys. You can't dictate over everything, I already abode to this outrageous saree makeover. Cut me some slack", as I put my trademark glasses on.
"Okay!", sighed Ruhi, "What do you think?", rubbing her hands excitedly eagerly waiting for my opinion.
I turned my head left and right and then my body. There I stood unable to recognize myself clad in a sky blue chiffon saree comprising of Zardosi sequence embellishments
at the thin border along with cute tiny sequences disguised as flowers thrown in the saree's body. Accessorized with silver oxidized multi-colored enamel earnings ending in dangling multi-colored beads and a thin matching chain-set adorning my neck with similar but elongated beads. An elongated sleek moon shaped enamel pendant hung over it. A proud Titan Raga's watch was clutched to my left wrist, which I had bought from my first salary. My signature winged eyeliner and cherry red lips, kept my identity intact. The funky me added blue kajal to glamorize my lower eyelids. Like the icing on the cake, a tiny stone bindi shone between my brows.
