Raghav's POV
🎶🎶
Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave
How can I love
when I'm afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt, suddenly goes away somehow
🎶🎶The most anticipated day had arrived, it was 14th February! Sasha had bombarded me with text messages over the night to give her hints, to guess what the remaining surprise gifts were. Her impatience was one thing and mine was to see my Reaction Queen's expression when her special gift was uncovered.
Seated in my car, parked a little away from her gate, my eyes followed her every move as she walked towards the car. Her burgandy bangs flopped up and down with each step she took. Her trademark black winged eyes were shielded by her spectacles. Clutching her sling bag, thrown over her left shoulder, she hopped down the steps at her gate. Pushing back the centre of her sliding eyewear, to make it rest properly at the nose juncture. The metallic edge of the frame caught a ray of light and sparkled, giving her a touch of a dazzling shining star.
Dressed in plain white shirt teamed with olive green cargo pants. A loose fit, long sleeved, mid thigh long, open grey cardigan was thrown over it, to keep her warm. Though the winter season had conveyed it's goodbye to the city, the chill February winds still lingered around.
I opened the door from inside for her, stretching over the passenger seat. As she took her place and was fastening her seatbeat midway, I spoke.
"I thought you'll come dressed in pink, today".
"Why?", she asked and looked up from her task to meet my eyes.
"I heard wearing pink on V-Day denotes that a person is in a committed relationship". I stated matter-of-factly.
She huffed and sat back after securing her safety belt. Turning sideways carefully in her seat to face me, she narrowed her eyes. "I don't see any shades of pink on you!" Her gaze did a quick once-over of my ensemble, proving her accusation.
"But, I'm a —". I held my tongue in check when she bouched up her sleeves and folded her arms. The perfect arc of her brows made me accept defeat and let it pass.
"Good!", she lauded me and bent over to my side. Pulling the keys out, drowned the roar of the car engine to a complete stop.
"First things first, where's the gift? Cut the suspense now", she demanded.
I paused for few minutes and said coolly, "It's not a gift-gift."
A suspicious shadow overtook her face along with a deep frown. "If you are thinking of anything stupid, like PDA or something on those lines, you can forget it."
Her look of a stern no-nonsense teacher made me chuckle. "Sasha, now you are putting ideas in my head".
"Oops!", she retreated from her conjecture. "Ok, then what is it?", she asked softly.
I inhaled and exhaled a deep breathe and built up the atmosphere. It was huge. I didn't time to organize my words before they escaped my mouth and messed it up.
"Lately, I've been burning the candles at both ends to impress the clients and worked few late hours from home. Providing overlap of my working hours with theirs. Everything paid off, in acquiring my reward for my sweat and blood. Each task that earned praises, found it's entry into a piggybank account of mine and when it was full, my prize was ready to be claimed". I beamed with happiness as I spoke.
