Raghav's POV

🎶🎶
Here I am this is me
There's no where else on earth I'd rather be
Here I am it's just me and you
Tonight we make our dreams come true

Before I could take a call on where to sit, the universe had decided for me.

"Raghav! Over here!", I heard my manager call out to me with a hand gesture.

I groaned internally and tried to keep a straight face. I felt like a gravitational pull had taken me to where he sat. "Oh God! Help me. Now I have to hear his rambling and have to attempt to make sweet talk with him. Urgh!", cursed internally for my ill fate. I looked down at my tray, "You better be good, to help me survive with him."

"You know Cathy is going to make a visit over here. Few other folks will join her, they haven't shared the confirmed list and dates", Selva, my manager, stopped while stuffing his mouth with the next morsel. Then he continued, "It's going to be busy month ahead Raghav, we need to build better client relationship and win over the new project....." Blah blah blah, he went on and on. I just nodding my head and replying 'yes' every now and then.

"Ya like the clients are so dumb, to give the new project worth of millions of dollars, just based on few days of visit. Over that, these idiots sitting in the leadership roles, instead of deciding to showcase our technical skills, wanted to put up a Bollywood inspired skit cum dance. God help us! Don't know how they got these jobs...... Can it be that after many years of working, their brains started rotting?", I was internally giving a disapproving nod but physically shaking my head yes.

In the previous client visit, I had voiced out on giving importance on our innovations and technical aspects to make an impression, but it went down the drain. The leadership team was hell bound on showing our tradition and culture, which I don't have qualms with, but just wanted to add some more meaning content for the clients. So after repeated rejections earlier, I knew they would stick to their same old and worn out trick. It felt like the world moves forward but we are stuck in a broken tape recorder, winding the same thing and reeling it out. Aren't those clients also fed up to see it too. I think that's why they send a new person every time.... Might be someone must have complained about the torture they went through time and again, I chuckled at that thought.

"You liked the idea. Are you in it?", Selva exclaimed.

"Yes, yes. It's good", I looked up to him and stated, though I didn't have a clue, but knew it was the usual Bollywood skit. Trust these people to never try anything out of the box and they expect us to think out of the box and develop some innovative tools... Double standard-ed idiots!

"Great! you took the load off my shoulder man, thanks. Will see you later", he gave a grateful pat on my shoulder and walked past me with his empty plate. I didn't give much heed to it and walked to wash area.

As I was exiting the cafeteria and making my way to the left to head towards elevator section, I could faintly hear a repeated "Excuse me!", from behind me. It was getting more louder as I could hear the sprinting of footsteps closer to me. I turned around to see and was surprised. A girl was standing in front of me with the head bent down, as she was steadying her breath. Even though the burgundy streaked fringe of her hair, was hiding half of her face, I knew who it was. Once stable, she looked up and we had identical warm smiles on our faces. "Wow! She is approaching me, for once, that's new", my mind was jumping with all kinds of thoughts.
