Sasha's POV
🎶🎶
When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
🎶🎶Speculation about the virus attack, leading to the shutdown of an entire branch, was high among the employees. It obviously wasn't a minuscule issue to shush off. Wagging tongues were murmuring different scenarios around me. Some of the rumors doing the rounds were of the highly feared Ransomware virus. Wherein the hackers, who implanted the virus, would demand huge monetary payment for disabling the virus. They were the creators and destroyers of the virus they had coded. Until they received the payment from the officials, the virus would render the system or network, it had attacked, as unusable and under their hostage.
I knew better than to fall into office gossips but my tensed heart silenced my logical brain. There were chances that the rumors could turn into the truth. In the past few months, some of our counterpart Software companies had reported, of falling prey to the Ransomware. It resulted in increase in the number of anti-virus software providers in the market.
While everybody was busy shutting down their workstations and gathering their things to leave; I sat slumped in my chair, hugging myself. Rubbing my forearms, as a response to the cool air conditioning sting felt due to decrease in the head count at the floor or due to bracing myself for the worst case scenario, was a million dollar question. How just two mouse clicks lead to my downfall, made me realize that it took only a matter of seconds for all my years of hardwork to tumble and fall.
AJ came up to my desk. Seeing my distraught state, he picked me up by my shoulders and walked us to Rohit's. I was in some sort of daze. I felt like a walking zombie in a nightmare, waiting for something to jolt me out of it. Rohit needed some time to wind up, as his system was turning unresponsive with every mouse click.
Engulfed in self-guilt, my conscience pricked me. Due to my oversight error, from the CEO to the employees, from the housekeeping staff to the caterers for the cafeteria; everyone had been affected. All that I could do was pray that it didn't bore a hole in their salaries.Raghav's POV
Entering our wing, I found it deserted. It didn't look like the usual hustle and bustle of a day in office during the weekday. Instead it replicated the lonely vibes we get when we have to come to office over the weekends for some production release support activities. My teammates hurried back to their desks, while bumping into me from behind. It made me turn right and three floating heads came into my vision. One of them was undoubtedly Sasha's.
Making my way towards Rohit's desk, as I approached closer, I called out to her, "Sasha". She whipped her head sideways and sprung to her feet. Shaking her head, she sprinted and flung onto to me. "Whoa!", escaped my lips as I caught her. I had to take a step back, to form a strong hold due to the force with which she hit me.
🎶🎶
No I won't be afraid
Oh, I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by meSo darling, darling
Stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand, stand by me
Stand by me
🎶🎶Sasha clung onto me like I was her life saving vest, she had just found, aiding her from drowning. She wasn't ready to let go anytime soon. Her first PDA from her side, rocket launched me high into the stratosphere. She fit so well into my arms. From the wetness forming at my shoulder and her sudden hug, a clear tell-tale sign, that it wasn't the time for my glory, but to comfort her. Gently storking her back in a comforting gesture similar to that of shushing a baby, I let her hug it out till she felt relieved.
